LOTO(AKA League Of their Own) 05' CONSOLATION LEAGUE

My Teams were doing great until around Nov...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Tue Feb 07, 2006 4:05 am

Then it seems i completely lost my focus and my edge...Icould use anything to improve my game...I have been having a great time with all the fun personalities here tho...Maybe it was just time to relax and enjoy everything more and not take the game as seriously as in the past.

I have definitely devoted way more time to playing than what is reasonable and probably have been way too serious in the past. It keeps me up at nite sometimes.

This in no way means I am giving up, I just either haven't paid the same attention as in the past, have had very bad rolls(The least likely) or I have just been lucky in the past and am really just a vet imposter posing as someone competitive. :( :?

And my team is back under .500 for the first time in awhile too. Walker comes back and promptly gets hurt for another 7 games...Guess I should have spent more time picking more solid backups. In all the teams I've owned since Strat started online, I've never had a team that has underperformed more or been so injury ridden.

For what its worth, almost all of my teams take advantage of high value/injury guys. But that strategy only works if you have decent backups to step into the inevitable voids. You will die a slow death otherwise.

But they don't have to be expensive! Frank Thomas is one of my favorites, but all it takes is one or two cheap but effective guys like Gomez and W. Delgado for Thomas' down time.

Does it seem like the whole league has gone into the OBP dumpster with the exception of div leaders puddle jumpers and pickups? They post matching .371 OBPs while #3 (yours truly) is at .340. I really expected to have a better OBP than that, and am baffled as to how that could be the 3rd best OBP in the league. Then there is our other div leader, Beulahs, who are blowing the rest of the league away with their pitching and still posting 5th best runs scored numbers despite having the 8th best BA (.254), 7th best SLG (.434), and 9th best OBP (.322).

Gratz to jeff, trich, and et for taking it to the rest of us so far, but those team stats are very strange.

Agreed on TRich's team...

Can definitely see why his pitching is leading theleague and that they have played so well, but the offensive stats have been unusually high for a Petco team - However, aside from kauffman and his homefield, the rest of the league is a hitters paradise - especially for lefties with the 3 Sheas added.

BTW, did i mention that - MY TEAM SUCKS!

I've got to agree with the consensus here on the topic of weird stats. I built my team to have outstanding OBP for the most part and yet my AVG, SLG, and OBP are right in the dumper. As it has been pointed out though, only two teams are really flourishing offensively in what should be a hitter's paradise league. Very odd.

As for my team, even though I don't really like going to the FA well during the season, I may have to look at perhaps moving a guy or two for better backups.

Hey, it's only 45 games!

And since when does a 1 game lead qualify as "taking it to" someone?

Just trying to soften up those div leaders so we can sneak up and knock em out of first! :D

I think my OBP is on the rise, and will hopefully keep going up as Suzuki, and hopefully Wilson, find their groove.
