Anybody know why the '83 '84 Ripken, and '80 Winfield cards have injuries? I am sure there are others, but I have Winfield injured on another team, and was checking to see what year(s) it could possibly be, and noticed in 80 he played 162 games, but still has an injury roll. So, then I went to the Iron Man himself, and he too(!) has injury rolls in two of his years

Pretty sure that the Iron Man can only be injured for the rest of the game all things considered. Therefore his consecutive game streak should still be in effect. As far as why? I don't have a good answer for that.
It might be the same way with other players like Winfield and Dale Murphy who had 162 games logged during the season of their injury opportunity?

I've been logging a Microsoft Access 97 database of all my teams and individual performances based on the stadium I played in just to see what kind of cards perform well and where. I admit that I was inspired to do it based on Sykes' .pdf file. Now that the true cards are revealed at the end of the season it makes this type of data gathering pretty darn useful.
I am doing mostly data entry right now but I'm over half way done. I've got one report that shows how many times I had player finish a season for me. So far, it shows that my most "popular" players to own are Billy Ripken and Frank Pastore. :shock: :roll: :lol:
Not that means anything really. It just shows that for whatever reason, during the first half of my career, I didn't mind having those two guys on my squad. I suspect that will all change as I put in the other half of my teams and start computing some real numbers.

When the game first came out, I logged a database as well but I don't believe that TSN revealed the "as played year" cards until recent history. If anything, you could bracket the performance between two years.
I went through one of my old teams to see how I fared with the estimates. I had a 75% success rate on narrowing two years and ~50% getting the correct year identified.
What skews your efforts is when the league does a complete refresh of players around the 21 / 42 / xxx game time frames. Division's can swing from heavy tilt to no tilt - which drives results upside down.
If anything, I will enjoy seeing how the player's actual card performs in a specific park.
Much written about limiting the BPHR hitters from pitcher parks or getting players that hit in a pitcher park et al.
I'm sure there is fact to that assumption but I haven't seen anyone toss out a few numbers to prove it.
