Show-Me State Fall Pro League! FULL!

Our historical single season sets

What do you guys expect from this league? There are some really bad players who will see significant playing time. Couple that with the fact that there will be a handful of really good hitters and pitchers, and we could see a record or two broken. HR record? ERA or win records?

Thoughts?

What if?

It'll definitely be interesting. I have a bunch of players with <100 AB so this gives them a "chance" to play a whole season. Can my worst pitcher really maintain an ERA of 9.08 for the whole season?!

Players Look to Make Name for Selves in Show-Me League

Postby pwootten » Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:08 pm

Columbia (AP): As major leaguers descend upon Missouri for the first ever Show-Me State Fall Pro League, hopes of returning to previous form are high and aspirations for great futures are evident.

On one end of the spectrum is future HOF'er Steve Carlton. Carlton, who is coming off a disastrous 9-14 season will pitch for OldToriiHunter's Doolittle squad. When asked if he was anticipating a return to his once great form, Carlton had this to say: " ".

Hoping to improve on already solid credentials is young Ozzie Guillen. Playing this fall in Bland, Guillen recently revealed that he hopes to one day actually manage in the major leagues. "I @#$%ing hope to be a @#$%ing manager in the @#$%ing big leagues," Guillen stated. When asked if he hoped to learn much from Bland Manager Rob Latorre, Guillen exclaimed, "No @#$%ing way!" (Bland Manager - that's funny! :D )

But no one can overlook the Cooter squad ( :D :o ). Big name stars Carlton Fisk, Cecil Fielder, George Foster, Joe Niekro, and Ron Davis join promising young Mark McGwire in a power-packed lineup. Manager Practical Doc, thinking McGwire might be just a bit skinny for a power hitter, has introduced the young slugger to a new exercise and uh diet supplement regimen  . We'll see if it works.

Over in Climax Springs, Manager Kev is hoping for big things from rangy slugger Dave Kingman. "Since Kong started drinking the spring water he's been in a perpetual state of bliss," the manager said. "In fact, we all have!" Kev noted that in Arkansas the people of Mineral Springs enjoy the minerals, while in Climax Springs, the folks enjoy the . . .minerals.

The Cuba team of DocTax may have trouble getting ready for the season opener next Monday, as several players ran into visa problems trying to get into Cuba.

And then there's Conception Junction. Manager jsam is just hoping his players survive the season.

Finally, in Skidmore, Randy Partin's squad has formed a posse led by Graig Nettles and Buddy Biancalana. Their hope is to wipe out crime in Skidmore. Said Nettles, "my career basically ended 5 years ago, so I'll serve as honorary Sheriff of Skidmore and see if I can do some good here."

Hayti manager Paul Wootten has been saddled with an extremely low-quality lineup of has-beens and never will be's. Still, because of his brilliance and reputation as a solid strategist, Wootten's team will likely be in the playoff hunt in November. Wootten is this publication's early favorite as Manager of the Year. :) :)

Wow!! I just figured out I don't have any pure RP. We need 4. If anyone has an extra RP let me know and we will make a deal.

I've traded baseball cards that have more value than this trade!

I like Wooten's recap because once I saw I have the enigmatic Dave Kingman, I'm thinking World Series. He's so multi-dimensional! He can hit Homeruns, he can strikeout, he can commit errors. It's a pleasure to have him on my roster!!
