I am not in favor of Irish III suggestion b/c I took a team that I believe lacked any significant players beside Banks. And w/ the addition of Hornsby and Cuyler, the team is still WEAK. I am one NOT the throw games on purpose and I do like this theme. And the thought of trying to build a team through FA is intrigueing. So if we go by how we entered at best I pick what 5th or 6th. Is that fair? Has anyone looked at $ spent to determine draft position during the first 2 weeks? The original idea on won-lost record was ideal. Now its not. I have my reservations about this. I don't know if I feel comfortable w/ changing how the rules were first stated. I know we tweaked a few things for the better. But using when you chose your team makes no sense to me. No I am not looking to bail out on the league just voicing my opinion. Any other suggestions?

I realize that I've already voted, and I'm willing to go along with the majority here. I don't believe that anyone would throw games on purpose-- it's also hard to do when a computer is simulating the action.

But there could be a freak first week where one of the weaker teams starts strong and one of the stronger teams stumbles. What is the chance of this? How often does this happen? And does this matter? Maybe our preconceptions are off given the composition of the teams and of the league? Would the good weeks and bad weeks even out over the course of the season? Wouldn't there be enough free agents out there to go around?

These are the questions I have. Has anyone played a league like this before? Do we need to make special provisions for slow-starting teams or will it all even out in the end?

Bottom line for me is it's an interesting concept and I too am intrigued by the challenge of building a team through free agency and a $200,000,000 pile of cash.

"Staggered Free Agents" Proposal Passes w/fgreely VOTE!

Postby divad » Thu Feb 09, 2006 4:33 pm

There was some discussion of staggering the number of free agents a team drafted on Saturdays: three FAs for the 4 bottom dwelling teams, two for the mid-level teams, and only one for the top four. Currently (neededing a majority of members to pass this proposal), we would need six VOTES:

1 - Arkinals
2 - Modmark - "Sounds like a logical plan"
3 - franks1313 - "...does sound good."
4 - genegrid (parity is a good thing)
5 - PillPop
6 - fgreely
