Rule for having in-eligible players

I first want to apologize to JP for taking a player that was exclusive to his team. I agree that something should be set up for the future. It's unfortunate that I was the first one to do this, but in the course of 16 season, and with all the complicated rules that will be made up during those seasons, it's bound to happen again.
I do want evryone to know that I didn't do it thinking that I was going to pull one over on the league.
As far as the punishment for the future. I don't think it should be severe. Something along the lines of what JP said. The manager should have to play a .50 mil. player for 1/2 the games the in-eligible player played in.

We should come up with an appropriate penalty for carrying a player on your roster who is not available to your franchise.
For Pjatscfy's case I suggested that he use the offending player's back up in his starting line up for as many games as the ineligible player started. (If the Giants use Mantle in CF for 15 games, then they have to put their back up CF in the line up for 15 games.) This rule would need a provision for carrying ineligible back ups.
Aerodave suggested a monitary penalty. Easier to execute but we would have to come up with an appropriate way of determinig the amount. A fixed amount? A percentage of the overall salary cap? A fine related to the offending player's salary? Do we take into account the number of games played by the offending player?
Thoughts, other suggestions?
