Not that I'm complaining overall about my hitting, but Punto, Olmedo, Pena and Mirabelli are a combined 1 -32!!

Beer-belly has the only hit, a double. He's 1-7

Yeesh.

Gallardo in the pen, revisited

Postby sousa » Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:04 pm

So far, not so bad--HAL has inserted G. into five games, and the most recent relief outing for the 4 inning reliever went 5 and a fraction. At this point I'm getting what I hoped for in terms of games pitched from Gallardo, and I'm a little surprised. And happy.

Got lucky with three one run wins, all in the bottom of the 9th tonight!

Sorry Mahoots. Well, not really, we'll take the wins when we can get them.

Ratings coming soon. I've worked them out, just left them at work. Maybe I'll retrieve them this weekend and post.

One thing for sure, Alabama is hitting WAY over their heads!

Hi guys. Kind of forgot about this thread. I'm not thrilled with my team either, lack of a real leadoff hitter might kill me. I've used Ruiz there before vs. RHP and actually won a ring... Probably the logical choice is to move Johnson up but I like to break up my LH bats...

What flabbergasts me the most is Downs' performance. Anyone ever had him do this? I'm trying to be patient but every time he gets his ERA back down into single figures, he gets torched and over 10 again...

Woe is me...

One of the problems with a 4 man pen is that one inning guys like Downs are going to pitch a lot and, he may be pitching when he's tired a lot (3 hits/walks in one inning) which adds about 100 points to the OB/Average. Still, he should be *that* bad. :?

Your pitching ain't great, but it shouldn't be as bad as it's been so far.

Ratings, probably on Monday.

Thanks for not giving me any credit, Joe. I think it's a bit arrogant to assume that my team's success so far is due to luck and not that my team is matched well to its stadium. I intentionally tried to draft/acquire high batting average guys with good defense (e.g. Redmond, Helton, Pedroia, Cabrera, Taveras) because that's what's good for my stadium, and I picked pitchers that can succeed both at home (pitcher's park) and on the road in my division (hitter's parks).

I'll be interested to see what these "ratings" say.

Hey Dave,

The ratings say you shouldn't be anywhere near where you are in terms of offense. Especially in your park.

Shoot, just look at how much you've spent on your lineup versus others. Even the salaries would tell you that you don't have a great offensive club. <shrug>

That's not what you went for is it? Besides, your "We're good for our park" doesn't really hold up when you have a better road than home record! ;)

Nothing personal man, I didn't say your team sucked, just that your offense is over performing.

I don't understand this. The two best teams in the East (the teams with the T2nd and 4th best league records) have both spent more money on pitching than I have.

I took the ratings last Friday so it doesn't inclde the Mahoots moves. Also, the pitching usage is as of last Friday and that can move a team up or down a place or two if there a significant usage differences that occur over time.

The ratings would say that the Bangers will win the West, A toss up in the central between Albany and Title . Although, San Jose isn't all that var back in terms of rating.

The East appears to be the weakest division Wyoming or Packwood should come out on top there.

Student would be the odds on favorite for the WC.
