Card Counting Methods.

Postby rutkap » Sun Feb 12, 2006 5:12 pm

I have to admit I started playing Strat in 9th grade and only recently started playing online. At the time the most successful method of measuring a persons performance vs RHP and LHP was to "count the hits" and "countthe homers" that was the peak of our statistical analysis of the card - adding up the number of positive/negative(for Ps) results on the card and writing it on the bottom of the card. same with the number of homer spots.

The obvious problem with this is this system gives equal weight to a "2" as it does a "7" we would sometimes refer to a player having a "juicy" 17 if it was more in the middle of the card than the ends - but that was the limit of our research.

Now that I am playing again, I would love to hear the ways that everyone evaluates cards. I have been trying to figure out a system that would take the roll odds into account - I have yeat to figure anything out that doesn't take a month to figure. Wow me with your genius...

Your on the right track, but count like this.....

2=1
3=2
4=3
5=4
6=5
7=6
8=5
9=4
10=3
11=2
12=1

The column on the left, is rolls, the column on the right, is chances (on the dice) There are 36 chances in each column, so, on a hitter card, having 3 columns (each vs L and R SPers). That means, that on a hitter card, there is 108 total chances per roll, same for the pitcher card, so there is a total of 216 total chances per roll on both the hitter and pitcher cards.

For example, if a hitter has 1 automatic HR on his card, and your banking on it to win a game, say the HR is located on column 1 #2, your chance of that one particular roll coming up is 1-in-216

Did I just totally confuse you, if so, maybe someone else can explain it better than I
