Replay Keeper Chat

Postby Frank Bailey » Fri Sep 09, 2005 7:45 pm

After reading the Muskies' post on the league mail and checking a couple of teams, I agree with Boss. There are teams I wouldn't trade places with to start the next season. To get better participation and to be able to find subs where needed, every team ought to have a reasonably equal starting point. Not having done this before, I can't be much help with ideas, but Boss has experience and probably can offer some useful possibilities.

Hey guys, finally figured out how to get here!

Don't wish to start a whole nother debate, but....isnt' it entirely possible that if each of us had the exact same teams the results might be entirely different? I checked out the guys team that mentioned the present draft system would be unfair to the bottom teams.... most notably his I guess, but it looks like a pretty decent team to me. ( with a few changes).

For me ATG is a huge statistical experiment whereby we are all victims of a huge random generator spewing out cascading streams of data.

(Excuse me, I just got finished with the Sci-Fi Leagues)

I also finaly have found this spot at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings to all!

The Marauditors like the idea of going with a dollar amount limit on the keeper players, although we could live with the 10 player limit I believe. What we are wondering is what about the future? Are there 'time limits" on the number of seasons a player can be retained by a team? I am relatively new to this format for Strat-O-Matic baseball (and have found out that I don't know as much as I thought I did actualy), but in rotissary leagues I have played in there was ususaly a three season limit on a players lifetime with a team. That way there is always hope for the future for all teams as every player becomes a free agent and up for bids at fairly regular intervals. It does not have to be only three seasons, but some limits seem to be reasonable........
Other thoughts on the idea????????????????

By the way, again with limited experience, I think Tim Orz has it right (Sci-fi influence or not). I don't know that the results would be differant, but this sure as heck does appear to me to be a huge statistical experiment I have walked into, but that is what makes it fun.

Looking forewared to continuing the experience!

I love all the feedback... I am acceptable of the $$ amount idea instead of # of players... but I am also thinking that we could protect less than 10 players.... ideas on this?

As for years... I had not thought about going beyond the next season... we could decide now on a predetemined # of seasons if we wanted to go more than 1, and we could keep the same rules from each year to the next. ideas on this?

And I would love to see Mighty Moose stay with us, and could certainly use his knowledge on keepr leagues.

Personally I would only commit to one more season. Also, I still think $$$ amount is best, but maybe a limit of 5-7 players would work too. I would not go more than 7.

OK...

So, why don't we try this:
We can protect $40 mil of the team.

I think one season, too. :)

$40 mil protected.
Let's get Mighty Moose back, and we'll try and fill the other three spots?

Thanks

so make a suggestion...

I am not trying to be the leader here, just fostering the discussion so that maybe we will replay the league because it was fun...

But, if I am just going to get badgered in so doing, then maybe this was a bad idea :0

I'd sy $30 mil or 7 players, and if I am the only other person commenting then it will be impossible to get this off the ground.

Boss's suggestion sounds fair to me. It's going to be hard to get this going, since we can no longer pt to individual owners. Why don't we post on the main ATG board and see who shows up.
