If I recall the board game rules correctly, a * pitcher with less than 200 innings on his card (Mathews has 197 2/3) can be hurt for 15 games. Someone else may want to verify this though.
Never in all my games and leagues have I seen this......I've had pitchers (both starters and relievers) go down for 15 but NEVER a* pitcher, the most was always 3 games and he was back to take his spot in the rotation....
But most * pitchers also have 200 innings. So if 200 innings is the cutoff you would never have seen it. You need a guy like Mathews who is both * and less than 200 innings.
Although I have heard that 200 innings is the cutoff and I have heard that 300 innings is the cutoff. Not sure where the reality is since so many of the rules seems to be treated like nationals security secrets.
Winter's has gone down for me on every team I've had him on , generally 10-15 games .
On one team I had Osinski go down for 15 and the day he came back , Baumgartner went down for 15 . During that stretch Winters went down for 10 . My staff was in shambles and did terrible through that stretch .
