Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Just checked in again...I missed Van Slyke on your list. Could be super for your park and strategy in center...I'd make him my first choice. If it turns out he's getting killed by lefty's, then put G Young in vs lefty's (don't laugh...he does well against lefty's).

I figured that Hassey would be promoted by another manager. I just have given up on him after only 3 tries, and have never seen him anywhere but on the FA bonepile at the end of 23 out of 24 seasons.

[i:baed9b99df]Only condition I ask you is to respect my high on-base low-whip philosophy while you provide your advices.

Championship team

Hassey, R. '86 L C 4(+1)e3 342 45 36 10 51 31 1 4 .330 .535 .392

I have a couple of others too but I dont want to look for them.

He can be awesome vs RHP.

One thing about the 80s is that you can always just sort by Whip or OBP.

Most of the cheap players have one or two very good or stud years and their average shown in the FA listing doesnt tell you that.

Essentially you are trying to get "lucky" in getting the stud year of cheap players. Heck, we are trying to get a good year out of any player so you will see lots of FA.

Some people will drop players too early thinking they are duds but other teams will pick that same player up and he will perform great. Yes the player keeps his same year.

One other thing is injuries, they can tell you what year you have so do the research for all injuries.

My waiver spot is 6th.

I'll give it a shot to both Gooden and Blyleven; who knows, perhaps one will be able to make it to me. If not, then I'll settle for a centerfieler...

Thanks Jimmy_C for your bullpen suggestions: surely one will get in my waivers.

Thanks to all of you actually.

I have another request: can someone post a short list of cheap players who can have a monster season vs lhp. I would like to have one or two on the bench...

oh! and by the way, I made my first trade!!! Got Hendrick for Barfield. Not sure if Hendrick is a good move (how many gb(A) is it humanely possible to have on a card???) but I wasn't to keep Barfield anyway....

I've used Hendrick twice. Traded him once and regretted it.
Using him now and he's batting .300+, 12 dingers, nice OBp and good defence after 40 games.
No regrets here

For a DH type of guy Richie Zisk at 1.77M is almost a can't miss hitter vs LHP. For .75 guys my favorite vs LHP is Luis Salazar. He isn't horrible with his defense at 3B and LF either! Others to consider would be Royster, Ron Jackson or Almon.

You don't have to have Wathan as your platoon catcher vs LHP. There are several .75 guys that will work just as well. Look at Valle, Engle, Cerone and a few others.

Good calls LM... if you looked up "Who kills lefty's" in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Zisk. :D

I'll also add to the list Braggs and Bueschele.

Try this on for size. Zisk may be the MVP of this league. I just grabbed him as a DH/left fielder against left handed pitching. He has turned out to be an animal against the entire league, left handed or right handed.
