OVERPRICED PLAYERS

Postby phillyhemp » Fri Oct 24, 2008 3:55 pm

Just getting into 70s game. I checked the messages, couldn't find a list of any over-rated players. Seems like Morgan, Grich, Jackson might be candidates. But what about Willie Davis? Anybody know some potential Dusty Bakers and Mark Langstons of the 70s?

I'm sure there are exceptions to every rule, but I have yet to hear anyone boast about the 6M bargain called Merv Rettenmund. I'm also beginning to hate Bruce Sutter. Keep it up buddy and you'll find yourself killing time with Jamie Easterly. And how about Amos Otis....he's in so many pools, the card must be water logged. I actually got a pretty good season out of Willie Davis but all onesided.

John Milner: Overpriced

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Sun Oct 26, 2008 4:30 pm

Howdy,

I tried John Milner and he didn't hit his [i:8b9ab991d6]weight[/i:8b9ab991d6] for me. I've got nothing but good things to say about Jeff Burroughs; he's walking on water for my Astrodome squad. Wrong park for him, though. :(

I think Dewey is overpriced. 5.55 Mil for some studly defense in RF, but only two cards over .800 ops . . . and then only barely. I have his middle card, where he gets injured more frequently, and he is performing horribly, unable to breach ye olde Mendoza line. Meh.

Not a lot of people offering help here. But thanks to everyone who responded. I guess guys like Histle, Tenace, Wynn and others are worth it...

you have to define 'worth it'

Some players are "worth it" in certain parks but not others. Is a player that has 3 good cards worth the gamble of a big price or would you rather have a slightly lower priced player that is more of a guarantee of a decent card but no superstar cards. It's all in the eyes of the beholder (or the risk taker).

Sometimes I like high priced players with great disparity in seasons so that you can unload them before too much damage is done in the case where you get the "bad" season, i.e. Morgan....shouldn't take too long to figure it out.
