Sacrifice Bunts

What is the highest total of sacrifice bunts any of you have seen during an 80's season? I currently have Mike Scioscia at 30 with 36 games remaining. I don't remember seeing anyone above 30, have you?

In the 48 completed leagues that I have been in here are the highest totals of sacrifice hits and the teams they played for. Most leagues did not have anyone with 30 so Scoscia's season you have going is certainly noteworthy.

Thanks Randy. Interesting stats. I found an odd thing while reviewing the stats. I could propose a trade to the teams in these completed leagues. I've never noticed that before.

You know looking at these teams again I just noticed that 3 out of the 4 teams won 90 or more games. I wonder if that means that bunting = success? Maybe it just means that they probably scored a lot of runs and therefore their bunters had more opportunities to bunt? :?

Scioscia ended up with 42 sacrifice bunts. Obviously not a record, but a large number nonetheless. Team ended up 79-83 so the large bunt total did not translate into a 90 win team.

I've got Carew up to 45 sac bunts with the final three games tonight. He is 28 bunts ahead of the next closest hitter.

I checked my completed no-DH leagues I have played in (3), in the past, and even in those leagues where you'd at least expect the pitchers to have a lot of sacirfices, the highest total was 31 (Brett Butler), with only 1 other player (Butler again) having more than 20.
However in a no-DH league I'm playing in now Ozzie Smith has 34 sac hits through 96 games for one of the teams, who by the way, going off what LMBombers said, has the best record in the league at 58-38 (a team I'm chasing!) =(
