A Real Bad Trade

A Real Bad Trade

Postby mike_miller » Mon Feb 13, 2006 8:31 pm

I'm in a League where the following trade took place...

Visigoths traded:
Shamsky, Art ($4,320,000)
Alou, Felipe ($6,560,000)
Chance, Frank ($4,940,000)

to Blues for:
Mays, Willie ($11,000,000)
Davis, Glenn ($4,440,000)

In addition to this trade the Blues also traded Babe Ruth to the Visigoths for no one.

I suspect that the Manager of the Blues is the same Manager of the Visigoths. Is there a way you can determine this? Step by step please...Thanks

Go to the standings page and see if the usernames are different. As for the trade you posted it is not absurdly one sided as frank chance is a much better value than davis and alou is pretty tough. I know munich man likes alou better than mays. That being said I would not do that deal.

I would also go to the stats pages and click on each team there to get a user id number. You could then go to diamonddope and get a list of all teams under each user. This would allow you to see if there are other leagues that both are in.

It was a 200 million league so money meant nothing

I agree that swapping Chance & Alou for Mays is not that outlandish of a trade. Swapping Ruth for no one, in a $200m league, is what would have me suspicious. :?

It could also be that a veteran of 200M leagues who understands the importance of loading up on studs is taking advantage of a rookie by throwing so many trades at him that the rook sees three very good players and thinks that is better than a Mays, when in a 200M league that is obviously not the case.

Go to the standings page click on one of the teams and copy the url for that team. Paste it here and vets can look at the teams.

It used to be possible to get a list of a person's teams through the userid number. But I think I remember reading that was changed to not be possible because some felt it was an invasion of their privacy. Of course I might have dreamed reading that or the person posting may have been wrong.
