draft problems

Postby jagman2882 » Sat Nov 22, 2008 5:14 pm

hey guys we have had a little draft malfunction....thisisrays pick of Saltalamacchia was not his orginal pick, he initially chose taylor buchholz but fro some reason that we cant figure out it changed it to Salta who he had placed in his proxy list..so we are just going to change it back to buchholz and make salta available again

sorry for all the confusion guys but we really have no explination why this happened

In my mid-May 200/60 keeper league draft, JJ Putz went 36th overall. This time around, pick #202. What a difference a season makes!

Please clarify:

2) Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 of the Initial Free Agent draft.

Doesn't this make round 41 on the SOM draft board invert?

I have a question about the prospect part of this league. Let's say there's a guy who is in the set of cards we're drafting, but won't be in 2008, how is he treated? He can't be considered a prospect as he's got MLB experience. Am I not understanding the prospect aspect?

Can he be on the 40 man roster despite not having a card in 2008, or would I have to redraft him in 2009?

I'm fine with whatever the rule is, I just don't want to waste a pick in this draft if I'd have to redraft a player in 2009.

I know its not my league but assuming you guys are using USKL 3 rules, I can answer your question:

Once you draft a player, he remains on your 40 man roster until you cut him even if he does not get a card from either Strat or TSN. Assuming you want to use the spot on your roster you retain his rights until you either cut or trade that player. You definitly do not need to redraft.

As far as prospects go,

For USKL 3 ( and again I'm assuming you are following the same standard) a prospect player is defined as:

[i:51b84a5609]Any player signed with a MLB organization that has [/i:51b84a5609][b:51b84a5609][i:51b84a5609]NO SERVICE [/i:51b84a5609][/b:51b84a5609][i:51b84a5609]time in the major leagues.[/i:51b84a5609]

Now you may want to tweak this to included [b:51b84a5609]any[/b:51b84a5609] player with no MLB service time not just those signed, which means foriegn players and those not yet drafted also become eligible, not sure which way you guys are leaning in that reguard.

But either way it requires a manager to do some research on their own as you'll have to track down your own list of eligible and desired players.
