Jimmy,
[b:5b82921fe4]I love it![/b:5b82921fe4]
I recall playing the board game version with my father many years ago and he loved to run his "pie hole" about his team (197x Pittsburgh Pirates). Even though he probably hated playing the game (in the first place), he enjoyed himself to the last damn out. :D
I haven't seen that type of fun in TSN in quite sometime.
So, I'll call your boast and raise you one while I wait for the dinner bell at mi casa -
[b:5b82921fe4]OUR DIVISION[/b:5b82921fe4]
Dodgers X2 [pitchers]
Wrigley [hitter]
Olympic [neutral]
It doesn't take the newbie too long to recognize that single hitters will fare everywhere as the lowest ballpark effects location is Wrigley.
With the two Dodger stadiums, the difference becomes when you try your gang in the bigger parks. :D
In reviewing your team (my first look since the draft), your selection of contact hitters is perfect with[b:5b82921fe4] Brett [/b:5b82921fe4]and [b:5b82921fe4]Hernandez [/b:5b82921fe4]being ideal as well as paying for gloves to keep the games close. Given the two Dodger stadiums, you wisely didn't waste money collecting too many BPHR heavy batters ([b:5b82921fe4]Winfield[/b:5b82921fe4] playing ~100 games in Dodger land  ).
My three minor comments on your offense:
[list:5b82921fe4]Your investment in [b:5b82921fe4]Dyskstra[/b:5b82921fe4] is a tad high for my budget
Who spells [b:5b82921fe4]Gamble[/b:5b82921fe4] when he gets hurt / sees LHSP?
Where is the speed? [/list:u:5b82921fe4]
Otherwise, very nice crew.
Your pitching plays to the benefits of Dodger especially [b:5b82921fe4]Hoyt[/b:5b82921fe4]. Moreover, I love your gamble on getting [b:5b82921fe4]Waits[/b:5b82921fe4]' or [b:5b82921fe4]Caldwell[/b:5b82921fe4]'s playable card to round out your rotation. Not sure about mixing [b:5b82921fe4]Swan[/b:5b82921fe4] into the rotation as you didn't go with another non*SPs.
You can't go wrong with [b:5b82921fe4]Henke[/b:5b82921fe4] but then you invested another $5M in RPs above Tom's cost.
[b:5b82921fe4]KEYS to SUCCESS[/b:5b82921fe4]
[color=darkblue:5b82921fe4][b:5b82921fe4]RPs[/b:5b82921fe4][/color:5b82921fe4]
Getting the lead early and keeping it. In your configuration, your hitters will play station to station but without much speed. Without another pure slugger, you're going to labor to manufacture large run totals. So, you will need to get a lead earlier and hope you RPs can come in and shut the door. Otherwise, HAL will select your weakest RPs (based on your settings) in the mop-up role.
[color=darkblue:5b82921fe4]When my Leathernecks come to your park, I hope that my Punch / Judy hitters: [b:5b82921fe4]Smith[/b:5b82921fe4], [b:5b82921fe4]Boggs[/b:5b82921fe4], and [b:5b82921fe4]Greenwell [/b:5b82921fe4] can get aboard enough for my sluggers to get lucky once or twice a series. [b:5b82921fe4]Cooper[/b:5b82921fe4], [b:5b82921fe4]Mitchell[/b:5b82921fe4], and [b:5b82921fe4]Murphy [/b:5b82921fe4] have enough natural HRs to make the match-up interesting.
As for my pitchers, I had to spend more on my starters given Wrigley's design but went for broke with the RPs. If I can't fish out one or two decent $.75m Lotto RPs, I'll need a great offense to build a lead that even a flame thrower can't burn up.[/color:5b82921fe4]
