PC Tour History

[b:6103f443f4]The Players’ Championship Tournament[/b:6103f443f4] (formerly the [b:6103f443f4]Players’ Tour,[/b:6103f443f4] hence [b:6103f443f4]“the Tour”[/b:6103f443f4]) has been around long enough to be something of a tradition by now, but a lot of old tournament info was lost forever with the old TSN message boards.

So, here’s a small contribution to post-Tour-ity….

[b:6103f443f4]The Tour[/b:6103f443f4] was first organized on the boards in 2003, by TSN/SOM community members. For the first couple of years, an informal “Tour board” set formats and rules. Fun was emphasized over competition, and the few rules were loosely enforced.

By 2005, [b:6103f443f4]Commissioner Teepack[/b:6103f443f4] was running the Tour. It became “official” under his tenure in 2006, when TSN changed the name and began promoting the [b:6103f443f4]Players’ Championship Tournament[/b:6103f443f4] and offering prizes. [b:6103f443f4]Teepack[/b:6103f443f4] took his well-earned retirement after the 2008 tourney, and 2006 Champ [b:6103f443f4]Cummings2[/b:6103f443f4] ably filled the breech as Commish for 2009. In 2010, [b:6103f443f4]thisisdan26[/b:6103f443f4] grabbed the reins and began his career as Commish just in time to rescue a late-starting 2010 P.C Tournament, which is now well underway.

The tournament’s format and scoring have evolved over the years, but there have always been 4-7 events played over the course of the MLB season, more or less. Events have included various autodraft, live draft, theme and even live auction leagues, with cumulative point systems deciding who meets in a final championship league. Since 2008, the Top 36 managers in point standings have met in three [b:6103f443f4]Semifinals Leagues,[/b:6103f443f4] with the 12 playoff managers advancing to the [b:6103f443f4]Champions League[/b:6103f443f4] to play for the tournament [b:6103f443f4]Championship.[/b:6103f443f4]

Thanks for putting together this info.

I'd also point out that cristano was the runner-up last year and I was the runner-up the year before that. Don't know about previous years because I didn't participate in the tour.

The year before that, [b:0720324853]marcus wilby[/b:0720324853] was the runner-up. I happen to recall, cuz I lost the wildcard by a dice roll to [b:0720324853]uncle ny,[/b:0720324853] who went on to beat him in 5 games for the Championship. :D

We had a good division. [b:0720324853]Spicki17[/b:0720324853] won it with the best record in the Champs League, but lost to [b:0720324853]uncle,[/b:0720324853] who finished 2nd, in the semis. I had the 4th best record in the league, but only 3rd in the division, so I missed the playoffs. :cry:

when i say i won every simulation, i meant i
simulated 1000 game leagues 10,000 times...
at the 90th percentile, i had the best record in
the league every time (ie i kept track of most
wins in each 1000 game simulation, and 9000 out of
10000 i had the best record)...
i realize its not perfectly credible, since
managers will be spot starting and such... but in
all honesty, in typical tour leagues, i rarely saw
over one manager spot starting, everyone else uses

2005-2006...the year of qksilver big return...unfortunately for him, he got completely screwed during draft because the only "lefty-oriented" stadium left for him (no allowance to re-pick same stadium) was taken up by...stevep.

Stevep dominated the league...and home record!!! Qksilver finished with a losing season at home.
