About the proxy thing (which i'm not 100% sure i know how to operate), i think it takes the fun out of drafting live. I really wanted the live draft experience. The proxy thing seems like a glorified autodraft.
Just my opinion.

By the way, are all live drafts for the sporting news strat games conducted this way?
I've done some sandbox fantasy football live drafts where each pick has a 3 minute time limit. I like those.

Proxies are a courtesy, and a necessity once the clock goes live in RD 2. Ideally, we would all be at our computers during a live draft, and we would knock out the 16 rounds in a couple of hours. However, reality is that, with people on various work and sleep schedules, different time zones, family responsibilities and now the added time commitments the holiday season brings, it's pretty much impossible to do a live draft with a clock, and NOT do proxies. I work 3rd shift, and so I will set a good list of proxies before I go to sleep. I set quite a few proxies today, for example, to cover me for RD 2. Of course, we only got through 5 more picks today... :P

I found proxy instructions under the help section on somdraft.com for anyone in need.

Joe - you don't have to pick proxies for ten rounds - just anticipate the next one or two, that keeps the thrill of the "live draft" real, but still keeps the draft moving.

Or keep a vigil all day like I have watching Kiner waste away as the most recent pick! :oops:

yeah, its disappointing. Seems like there's always one person that holds up every draft although this is particularly annoying since the guy sent me 6 pms yesterday and is nowhere to be found today. Its unfortunate when its a newer player too since I'd really like to see and encourage more new people to play this game and this makes me less likely to want to do a live draft with new people in the future.
