ALIGNED COMBO FRANCHISE LEAGUE - FRANCHISES ANALYZED

Our historical single season sets

1. Please explain the draft order?

My original premise was that Managers participating would vote on how we would decide. Unless there is an issue standard Lotto results, high to low would seem fine. Let's here from everyone at this point>

2. Also, the franchise players are yours for season and can't be used by someone else, correct?

I'm not sure this would be best as I'm reasonably sure some Franchises may have depth at certain positions. I thought having each manager draft the first card with all Franchise players and then those unused players would be allowed to be drafted via frenzy.

Each team would be required to maintain a minimum of 20 Franchise players and only a max of 5 FA's could be selected.

3. Since frenzy, can you or can't you include non-franchise players on your draft card?

Only Franchise players can be on the draft card.

4. Is there a minimum req of franchise players used (20 perhaps) and a max of FA you can use (5 perhaps)

As stated above, after the draft you can cut down to 20 Franchise players.

Bob, question - you've shown the cap at $200M but the budget at $100M. If we are going to base our team (from the 2 we get) on a $100M budget, what is the purpose of the $200M cap?

I put this procedure in because I was reading a league being put together by LM Bombers in the 1969 league in which reference was made that using a $200M cap gets you around certain glitches in the drafting procedure that occurs when you use any other tha $60M cap salaries.

To be honest I don't totally recall the specific detais but we can look at the chat site and determine if its totally applicable.

Bob... on a couple points:

2. Cap... am I to understand that we must function at 100M but it will be set at 200M? Not sure why this is the case... unless you are going to allow add/drops with no real penalty.

3. Franchise players - I'm cool with being allowed to trade them away, but see a real potential problem during the preseason if any who are not on your team are free to the other teams to pick up. I would say that at a minimum, your franchise players are yours alone up to 24 hours before the season starts... say Sunday at 9PM. Gives everyone ample time to tinker around and make some trades.

... on a couple points:

1. If we are using lottery for drafting of franchises, would it make more sense to use them in reverse order for drafting the 5 FA's(with serpentine rotation) as opposed to a frenzy. Invariably, someone may not be available for the frenzy, or have a slower connection which would make this a little unfair. This would allow the person who gets stuck with the last franchises to at least have the FA of their choice.

I agree with Waivers over Frenzy. However, would either of these options be a better solution to the reversing of the lotto order as you suggested:

a) Reverse the order of the salary cap prior to draft. Lowest cap prior to selection of Franchises would get 1st FA pick and so on.

b)After the Draft is completed get 1-3 outside experts to rank Franchises.

2. Cap... am I to understand that we must function at 100M but it will be set at 200M? Not sure why this is the case... unless you are going to allow add/drops with no real penalty.

Yes that's my thought. I've found the league that specified reasons for using 200M cap. Still need to review again.

Agree 100%. Only issue I have at this point is whether there are any franchises with holes that would be unfair to put any franchise in such a bad position, ie; no starting player at a specific position.

$100M Cap will be used

Postby rschwartz51 » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:18 pm

Response to NOVIE - Why the $200M cap

As it turns out the $200M cap is an issue when you are using single franchises. The $200M cap allows to get around a $60M minimum cap draft requirement.

Since we don't have this issue I see no reason not to use $100M cap draft.
