OK, I am still confused. Let's try to make it simple. First we pick a franchise from A or B, no additional players at this point. Do they have to be considered as part of that team by SOM or just have played for that team.

If this is the first step what is the next step? Well I now see the A franchises are not as good as the B and there is some incentive to get people to pick A. Are the group B in order and the picking of the Yankees mean you get less of something in the future than say picking the Cubs.

its first time ive ever done a franchise draft with this format too but now that i understand the basics id guess you want to pick a B team if youre looking for a pretty solid franchise while being at the mercy of losing one of your key players to an A franchise...pick a weaker A team and you can strengthen your team by later adding a player or is it players from the stronger B teams. I'm not sure im right but thats how im understanding the setup for drafting teams and additional players.

OK, I am still confused. Let's try to make it simple. First we pick a franchise from A or B, no additional players at this point. Do they have to be considered as part of that team by SOM or just have played for that team.

THE PLAYERS INITIALLY ELIGIBLE ARE ONLY THOSE PLAYERS RATED TO THE FRANCHISE DRAFTED, OR ANY PLAYER ASSIGNED BY ME.

ONCE THE DRAFT WHICH FOLLOWS FOR TYPE A AND THE NEXT DRAFT FOR TYPE B AND THE AUTODRAFT IS RUN THEN ALL FA WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO BE PICKED UP FOR ANY FRANCHISE MEETING THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA.

If this is the first step what is the next step? Well I now see the A franchises are not as good as the B and there is some incentive to get people to pick A. Are the group B in order and the picking of the Yankees mean you get less of something in the future than say picking the Cubs.

THERE IS SPECIFIC MEANING TO THE ORDER OF THE TYPE B FRANCHISES.

FOR THE PURPOSE OF HELPING THOSE MANAGERS WHO MAY BE NEW TO FRANCHISE TYPE LEAGUE ( THERE ARE AT LEAST 6 WHO CAME OVER FROM MY CURRENTLY RUNNING FRANCHISE THEME LEAGUES) I WILL PROVIDE A HISTORY OF WINNING RECORDS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.

Postby rschwartz51 » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:25 pm

NOTE: I HAVE UPDATED THE FOLLOWING WINS STAT AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS THREAD

Subject: Total Wins by Franchise, up to the minute -
Date: Wednesday 11/26/2008 11:50 PM

THIS IS A $150M CAP LEAGUE. 12 BY 12. RECENTLY RELEASED PLAYERS AREN'T INCLUDED. NY YANKEES ARE SPLIT INTO 2 FRANCHISES. REMEMBER ITS LIKELY SOME KEY PLAYERS MAY NOT BE APART OF THE FRANCHISE BELOW VS OUR LEAGUE.

Franchise - Total Wins - League Title (Y)
Indians - 287 - Y
A's - 287 -
Early Yanks - 284 - Y
Cards - 284 -
Cubs - 282 -
Giants - 282 -
Red Sox - 273 -
Tigers - 270 -
Dodgers - 269 -
Post Yanks - 269 -
Braves - 251 -
Browns/O's - 238 -
Most Wins in a Season - Cubs w/ 94, S1
Most Losses in a Season - Browns/O's w/ 106, S2
Pretty decent parity among the top 6 franchises,
IMO. Big drop off for bottom half, especially the
two franchises bringing up the rear; Braves &
Browns/O's.

MORE THAN LIKELY THERE ARE AT LEAST 6 TYPE B FRANCHISES THAT ARE SOLID. WHAT I DON'T KNOW IS IF THE REDUCED CAP LEVEL MAKES A SIGNIFICANT COMPETITIVE DIFFERENCE. I'M HOPING THAT TYPE A FRANCHISES WILL BENEFIT AND TYPE B WILL COME DOWN A BIT.

ALSO, IN MY $150M LEAGUES BALLPARKS WERE RESTRICTED TO ONLY THOSE PARKS ASSIGNED TO THAT FRANCHISE WHILE HERE IT'S OPEN. EXAMPLE, THE DODGERS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO HAVE A GREAT STAFF BUT IN MY 4150M LEAGUE THEY DIDN'T REALLY HAVE THEIR PITCHING PARK TO USE AND A KOUFAX WASN'T AS DOMINANT AS HE COULD BE.

THE OTHER POINTS YOU MAKE ARE CORRECT.
