2006 Pre-card Base Team Theme League - Check it out

Postby blsmith7 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 12:57 am

Here's my plan:

This will be a six round serpentine draft to be completed before the 2006 TSN game comes out.

1. The first part of the draft will consist of two rounds to draft two base teams - must be one from each league.
2. The second part of the draft will consist of four rounds to draft players from the remaining teams not selected as base teams. This will be done according to league. Whoever has the first pick determines which league will be drafted from for that round. There will be 2 rounds for each league. However, the order will be reverse of the base team 1st round.
3. Ballpark must be one of the two base teams, so no duplicate parks.
4. $100 million to allow a little leeway, but not too much.
5. DH - no frenzy, no waivers.
6. Must always have 20 players from your base teams at all times.
7. Trades are permitted, as long as you maintain rule #6.
8. Players from base teams not on opening day roster will serve as farm team, only available to the player that owns his rights. They may be traded, however, they must be added to active roster first.
9. Players from undrafted teams and not picked up in draft are FAs, but rule #6 must be maintained.
10. Sign-up below w/ lottery state.

Is all this clear?

I'm still a little confused about the whole process.

Could you try to better explain rule number 2 for me?

Also rule number 5? - If there is no Frenzy, isn't there automatically waivers or am I confused about something?

Still sounds fairly interesting.

Is there any way to see the cards pre-game start?

Thanks

The third through sixth rounds of the draft will consist of drafting individual players from the teams not drafted as base teams. There are 30 MLB teams and 24 will be drafted as base teams, which leaves 6 undrafted teams. Players from those teams will be eligible to be drafted in rounds 3 through 6. Since there will actually be two AL teams and 4 NL teams remaining, I may have to amend this rule slightly. By reversing the order for these rounds I mean that whomever has the first pick in round 1 will have the last pick in round two, and will also have the last pick in round 3, but the first pick in round 4.

You are not confused here. Technically, there will be a frenzy period, however, since all of our teams are drafted prior, there will be no need for a frenzy. We will not know how much players will cost, which is why I made it $100 million cap limit. However, you will still have to make sure your team fits under the cap. If you are unable to do so, you may have to forfeit one of your draft picks for a .50 player from an undrafted team.

No, however, you can guess the quality of players cards by looking at splits on the MLB.com stats page, or some SOM players have purchased the ratings disk, which gives ratings, but not salaries. I do not have the disk.

There may be other revisions as well, depending on any questions or problems that may arise as we move forward.

I have a suggestion, based on a similar 2 team league from last season. Each team name should be a combination of the two teams picked,w ith stadium choice dictating location. So if you pick Texas and Pittsburgh, and pick PNC, your team would be the Pittsburgh Rangers. It makes it easy to know who has the rights to which players at a glance. Not a big deal, but it made it easy to know who belonged where.

Presume the draft will take place in Individual League Chat? Any time limits on picks or not needed b/c so short?
