Newbie looking for advice...

Postby terpfan61764 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 9:48 pm

In reading through the threads here I've noticed that many of the regulars are eager to help and it has made me glad I found this game.

In reading I've come across a couple of things that I'm looking for help with, the first is this, I've heard the term Reverse Lefthander and how it will come into play. Can someone explain this?

And second, I'm confused as to how to know what type of pitchers and hitters to use to build a good team in the different ballparks. Can someone help with this as well.

These are just a couple of things that I have questions about, I'm sure there are many more to come as I get more and more into this game.

Thanks!!!!

I have this team playing in Camden Yards. Any advice on how to improve it to play more to the park would be greatly appreciated.

The term reverse lefty means that he throws lefthanded but he is stronger against rh batters. This can be very effective with teams that load up on rh hitters to face your lefty only to play into his strong side.

Ballpark effects - homeruns are based on whether it is easier for a left hand hitter or right hand hitter to hit homeruns or even up. The higher the number (the 2nd number) ie 1-7lh 1-4rh it is easier for a lh hitter to hit a homerun based on a dice roll. Hitters cards have # in front of some numbers. This is their ballpark homerun number. If you have a hitter with a lot of # but no natural homeruns, he will kill you in a pitcher park, ie, Petco, Busch, etc. Big Ballparks - high OBP and Natural Homeruns, Small Ballparks - Ballpark homeruns. Same only opposite for pitchers.

Hope this helped.
