mjruth, I love the detail and if we could make it work it is perfectly fair - BUT, I am just a little worried about having to make so many snakes for each player - this may get very time consuming given everyone's schedules, etc. I have done live drafts on Deegan's site that have taken weeks just waiting for one owner to log in and make a single pick, let alone waiting for everyone to pass/bid for multiple auction snakes.
Not a criticism, maybe I don't fully understand it.
I think an "active" bidding process, where you simply enter your bid before a set time is relatively simple. We have a standard thread to copy, something like this:
Player (Current bid and team)
B. Ruth (12.1MM, Team 4)
T.F. Brown (2.7MM, Team 12)
J. Foxx (13.2MM, Team 12)
D. Vance (4.8MM, Team 6)
L. Gehrig (7.9MM, Team 11)
If Team 1 wants to up the ante on Ruth they copy this string and paste a new post with:
[b:bfd0741886]Player (Current high bid and team)[/b:bfd0741886]
B. Ruth (12.5MM, Team 1)
T.F. Brown (2.7MM, Team 12)
J. Foxx (13.2MM, Team 12)
D. Vance (4.8MM, Team 6)
L. Gehrig (7.9MM, Team 11)
We can pick team names ahead of time to avoid any confusion with team numbers. And its relatively easy to look back and reconstrcut what happened if there are any typos, etc.
After the time passes we sort through any final bids and award the five players to the respective rosters, then post a new five. If you don't want those players, you don't have to do anything. If you won't be around at bid time eneter your best bid early - not ideal, but we will all win some and lose some because of schedule. Again, if we have a 48 hour bid period, we will have a 120 day process. If 24 hour it will be 60 days. I am fine with either.
I am happy to go with whatever the majority decides - just an idea.
