I vote for the snake method.
I like the five auctions at once idea.
I like the bid winners choosing the next player for bid.
If a team passes on a player, they can no longer jump back into the auction for that player. I like that a lot.
I'm not sure about the whole 48-hour thing. With the snake method, I think instead of having a deadline when the auction ends, there should be a time limit for making a bid. Miss out on bidding, you pass.
Example:
Team A announces Ernie Banks with opening bid $4M. Team B passes. Team C ups to $5M. Teams D, E, F pass. Team G bids $5.5M. Teams H and I pass. Team J does not respond within allotted time (3 hours?), passes. Team K bids $5.9M. Team L passes, etc. etc.
I think it is going to be hard to participate in each and every single player being auctioned, BUT with 300 players being auctioned, I expect to miss a bunch. And this is how some deals and steals may happen.
I have no cell phone, and I work as an editor, so quiet is paramount and so there are VERY few phone calls. Thus, I will not pass phone number along. However, I am willing to give my work e-mail, which I check a LOT.
