LOTO(AKA League Of their Own) 05' CONSOLATION LEAGUE

Gratz Chuck!

Just got back from a trip to Vegas. Haven't been there in 20 years. My have things changed. The place is like Disneyland if they decided to do an adult theme park. The place even has roller coasters. I'm not much of a gambler but I did leave the blackjack table with more money than I started with and the wife lost less than we had set as our limit. I count that as a successful gambling venture. Went with some neighbors and it was a blast. I'm truly amazed at the scale and imagination of the casinos there now. My favs: New York New York, Bellagios, and Wynns.

When I left the LeatherKnockers had just been swept by the Beulahs. Of course on my return I see they've just been swept by the Questers. Sigh. Penn's canucks are making me very nervous, not to mention all these trades involving teams in my division. I don't even recognize my competition any more!

Yeah Charlie, our division sort of underwent a makeover in your absense. I definately think I'd be nervous too with Penn sneaking up on you.

My question is whether or not my boys can battle back from being as far out of the running as they were and get back into the title/WC hunt???

Sorry I haven't been around as much as I often am. Going through student evaluations...always a bit busier time.

I think I know some of the problems I am having with my Coochies, guess some changes should be made, but as long as I remain 3-5 games out of the WC I keep getting cold feet on pulling the trigger.

Anyhoo, I am putting my Coochies on display, if you like any of them lets get some trade talk going.

__

Rob, I was playing in Angels stadium it was a two-team themed league. I had a surpluss of players between trades and my two franchises and I was a bit stuck in making up my mind. During Rooks 101 I sent some league mails asking for input and you helped me out choosing players and gave me a few heads up in how to gear for the playoffs and different opponents... the full service kinda thing. Thanks again :D

Have a great day guys!

WOW! What a wild series I had with the Cha Chas lastnight!

30 runs scored between the two of us in the 1st game, a very tight second game and then, we score 7 runs on The Unit in game 3.

What I can't figure out at the moment is just how Hal is utilizing my defensive replacements? I've got it set so that in tight games my defensive minded back-ups at 1st and LF are supposed to come into the game. So far Hal has brought in my back-up 1st baseman once and my back-up LFer one time (not in the same game though) but in other close games it has left the poorer fielding guys in there??? Gotta love Hal.

Ouch! The sweep definitely...

killed all the momentum I had built up this past week...Back to the drawing board. I am pinpoint focused on that wildcard. If I can comeback from 18-34 and snag it to make the post, it will be one of my biggest comebacks ever...I cannot believe how badly this team has underpeformed since day one. I have never seen a Shea team have someone like BJ Ryan get shelled day in and day out at home. he is just another in a long line of under achievers on this team. It feels like i am actually playing in "Back to the 80's" and every player is having their bad season. Then I realize that it is the 05' game and it gets very discouraging. :x

Trust me Rob, I feel your pain. My 80's team is gonna finish probably 20+ games under .500 and never has a team so totally frustrated me! The team never found offense from the start and no matter what I did, nothing worked. So I have a firesale and trade anybody that any team had interest in as long as they could make the money work and NOW the team comes to life! Go figure!

With great pitching, fielding, speed, great OB, power in the middle w/natural HRs - players with 4 great years and 1 bad one and my OF is hitting a paltry .172 w/ very little production - It seems I picked an entire team of worst year scenarios. Ugh!

Oh crap! Here's where things get interesting, I've got the division leader tonight.

What a freaking tough league! You've got the division leaders all at 50+ wins and then everybody else within 5 games of each other. Absolutely amazingly tight league.

I think that was the first time I ever completely blanked an opponent (3 shutouts in a row).

Last night was a rough night for me - so it was nice to wake up and have almost all of my Strat teams perform extremely well. I think 4 of 6 earned sweeps, and I went 15 of 18 overall. It has been a long time since I had a strat night as good as that - of course it has been a long time since I've had 6 teams all running at once hehe.

In another league last night I got shut out - 10 total hits. So I know what it feels like on the other side of that.
