NEW SUMMER LEAGUE - AUCTION - CHAT ONLY

Postby Palanion » Sun Jan 11, 2009 2:57 pm

For right now, I'm still good with 5 players at once.
I think the auction thread could get VERY confusing with any more players getting bid on - particularly if a couple players get lost back on a previous page and someone comes in from being away for half a day or more, which will definitely happen as people go to work, sleep, etc.

I think 5 at a time is plenty.

I also think we will not necessarily have players awarded by tomorrow at this time. I am guessing nobody is trying to "hold out" on their bids, but we all check in at different times and thus rest the clocks a lot.

Or maybe I just have to have Frisch and Speaker for my small ball team - and will likely spend up to 150% of their card value to get them - anybody buy that? If so keep driving me up (if you have the budget, cause I might be bluffing).

Okay, I am easy, at least this is what my wife says.

As long as we stay committed, and after winning a player we
[u:bf0b730519]nominate the next player quickly[/u:bf0b730519], I am fine to stay with what we have currently going.

Bid away boys!

Definitely need the marathon mentality here, vs. the sprint. It will be fun to see the rosters start to take form in the coming days/weeks/months on Palanion's site - THANK YOU again for doing that, Big P!

I vote *not* to put the next player's name out until the previous player has been awarded. I too, really have no idea at this time what name's I want to offer and would prefer not to think about it until that time if and when I take one of the player's on auction.

My take:

No on listing next player.

5 at a time is plenty.

Control breathing for the longer distance :P

I'm sure a $20M bid on Speaker or Frisch will finish their auction

I am sure as soon as one of us wins a bid we will slap another player out immediately. I did not get a single response on the fact that we need to save enough dollars to buy players at the end. example: I need 3 more players I would have to have at bare minimum 1.5M left to buy these 3.
That is correct Yes No.
I just need to know for budgeting purposes.
Thx mjruth

MJ, I believe what you ask is true. You will require at [u:b3b086fcef][b:b3b086fcef]least[/b:b3b086fcef][/u:b3b086fcef] $500,000 for however many players you need to draft.

Are we required to go with a hitter if we win a bid on a hitter and vice versa? At some point we will get the last hitter and only want to bisd on pitchers. Will they still have to throw a hitter out there with no bid?

If someone throws someone out there with no bid and in 24 hours there are no bids does that person nominate another or do we pass the baton to someone elcse?
