DOHowser's Good Idea

Postby mjruth » Tue Jan 13, 2009 10:42 pm

Quoted by DOHowser:

And one more thought before I pass out. I believe we should also consider having more players on the auction block at one time. The way the first round is going, it could take three days to go through the first 5 players. My thinking is we have 5 players being auctioned with a price tag of over $7M and 5 players being auctioned with a price tag of under $7M at one time, or something along those lines.

I actually agree whole heartedly with DOHowser. 10 players bidding at once would not be difficult at all and it would be exciting to bring out some lower priced players at the same time.

I would be willing anyone else??????

Maybe we could run two different strings - one with pitchers and one with hitters? Or just two with five different players each. Then you don't have to go back several pages to see the current bid. Maybe that won't make sense when I look at this clear eyed in the morning, but it does right now.

Also, personally I would sooner see us work through the high priced players before getting to the lower priced players.

I think if we add the caveat that any nomination also has to come with a bid (by the nominator - like in a fantasy football auction - maybe we've already said this?) it will eliminate the concern that an imbalance will develop between pitchers and hitters - basically any player nominated will be assured of going to a team, even if for the opening bid.

My 2 cents...

Any more active auctions and it will get hard to keep track. If it's more than 2 pages back, it's possible to get lost.

Nominating someone you don't want is part of a possible strategy. Maybe not a good strategy..

The bid with nomination won't matter now, but might be a great idea in the later rounds, so I'll second that.

maybe

we keep all active players in one post
withthe new bid labeled new

i am having troubel following up back posts to see current status

this would also make it easier to follow a larger number of players

also I think it just looks more fun

thanks

We started putting all the active bids in one post, and somehow it wasn't working. Simo-bids was the culprit?

This is a Summer League, I just walked the dog thru 4 feet of snow, with more on the way.

We have time. :D

I agree - stay with the marathon mentality - and hope we all survive the winter!

Mr. BBW is awarded Pete Alexander at the sum of $10.8M

Mr. BBW can nominate a new pitcher at any time.

And will we have a second new pitcher of the day come dinnertime (ET)?

Why don't we see what a relief pitcher might fetch.
