I am trying Montero currently.

For the price you can't expect much, but I will take the homers and low BA. Johnson and Harang need to go, IMO. Too pricey and those BPHRs will not be good. I also agree on ditching Rios, he is overpriced and I have never seen him do well. Seems like you have a lot of suggestions. Hope this helps!

You want to spend your money in a platoon proportional to playing time. If you're going to face righties 75% of the time, then the guy you play vs. righties should cost 75% of the platoon. Paulino is more expensive, and you won't face that many lefties.

You still need to drop RJ, and I don't think Morales is a terrible choice, but he isn't that great either. You have a weak bullpen still, and he's only an S5, so he won't be throwing a lot of complete games. It's also very easy to get good BAL L hitters to neutralize Morales. I'd go for cheaper LHSP options. Try and trade Harang for Kelvim Escobar and Kason Gabbard (Proviced Ylae has 3 SP*). Escobar is really ideal for you, and could be a perfect ace. With so many managers in your league setting up 4 day rotations, it's best if you just go with a 5 or 6 man rotation of 5-day guys. One of them can be a "matchup starter", a cheap pitcher who kills certain types of lineups (i.e. Jason Bergmann, Kenny Rogers)

i went back to lowry instead of morales freeing up 3 mil, The reason i havent moved either rj or harang is because there is NOTHING but bottom the barrel starting pitching left. I figure even w/ the bp hrs on the card there k's will balance it out. I'm tryin desperately to figure out a way to add some power to the lineup, beyond atkins,berkman,cabrera, most of my strength is speed w/ taveras,reyes & crawford, hopefully the three of them can manufacture some runs by taking the extra base.

I ended up dropping rios & picking up pujols and moving berkman to play out in rf. I know pujols is slanted towards lefties but I think he gives me that extra bit of offense like everyone said that i had needed, plus a 1 @ 1st doesn't hurt either. I had to go with kendrick as a # 5 starter, i think he will do just fine ending out the rotation. overall an improvement I hope :?:

Berkman in RF will be brutal. Bad arm, lots of errors, and horrible range.

A 1 at 1B isn't really that big of a deal.

Kendrick will not do well for you.


I think you need to work out a few trades. I'd put just about everyone on your team out there on the trading block except for Gallardo, Wang, Bell, K-Rod, Montero, Berkman, and Atkins.

Pujols would do very well for you, but is he worth 2x Berkman? I'd argue not with the holes you have right now. Berkman in right is trouble waiting to happen. I'd prefer to have a Hamilton/Hopper platoon, or Hunter Pence, or if you're feeling risky Milton Bradley. Someone like Nady might be a cheaper option.

Dropping McCann is a mistake IMO. You now have two catchers who are w's against LHP and neither can hit.

I'd drop Torrealba and Pujols, pick up McCann and a RFer. Then address the lack of depth in your pen by re-working your starters. I've seen Correia put up excellent numbers before. Right now you have three under $1M rp who will log significant innings in a hitter's park.
