Denorien, I was very surprised to see the 56 Yanks fall to me at 16. They went in the mid-1st round the last time I was in this league.

League is now set and I will pass on PW to the East by PM. I will also send PW to Moose.

I looked hard at them, but other than Mantle (who has been shown as underperforming in ATG2) and Yogi and maybe Whitey Ford, what have you got ? I think you simply have to have MORE quality players to make a well rounded team. And when I was looking at them, I had already decided on Montreal and Carter, so I couldn't justify Yogi even tho I could have stuck him in LF.

Visit my Amazon referral page. I just added a book I found about Mantle at the very bottom of the page. It reveals a lot about the dark side that he often exibited. I found a lot more in Bouton's book, "Ball Four" that talks about how he might have had an even more glorious career if he "had been back in his room on time more, and loosening up with the boys at the bar less" or shutting windows on autograph seekers hands.

Sadly, he himself only started reflecting back on some of those shortcomings when he was near the end of his life.

A great player, but still quite human.
