Koufax 8.5
Maddux 11.9

Frisch 8.6
Ruth 16.2

Adding in 21 more nickel guys, i have 55.7 total salary

I just have a spreadsheetwith one cell that sums up the 25 cells above it. I put .5 in every one, and change it to the auction price of any player I win. When it gets near 80, I'll slow down. :D

There shouldn't be a bidding frenzy on Vuke and Wickersham.

It will be a while before we get to this point, but we're going to have 22-23 players on our rosters, and will have either the hitters or pitchers spots all full.

We may have to modify the "win a pitcher, nominate a pitcher " rule at the point we start to fill the rosters.

For example, if I have just won Dave Chalk to be my 15th hitter, and I only have 8 pitchers. If I nominate a hitter for a nickel and no one bids, I can't add another hitter.

My take is this, once anyone fills his 10 pitchers or 15 hitters, he can nominate the position he can actually put on his roster.

Once an owner has all 25 players picked, should someone else nominate a player for auction? What if no one bids, and that owner keeps trying to nominate a player the other guys will bid on?

More importantly, will we remember what we decide on this issue by the time it actually comes to pass?

Good point - if you fill either your pitchers or hitters roster we need to slide the nomination to the next team that still needs a player in that category. We can just work down the division listing, east to west. Eventually everyone would thus have an opportunity to nominate the players they want for the last few roster spots, unless they chose to bid on another team's nominee.

Actually I think the point is being missed. The 3:2 ratio will work. Remember, you're not nominating a player to fill *your* roster, you're nominating a player to fill *somebody's* roster, anybody's. Even if you don't need a batter, somebody else will until the last one. When everybody has 15 batters, they simply stop nominating. When everybody has 10 pitchers, they, too, stop nominating.

So if you take Dave Chalk and it's your last hitter, you still make a nomination for the others to bid on. I think the problem is not with the numbers but with the names. As we get near the end we may have problems where nobody wants the nominated player.

For example, let's say 10 out of 12 have all their hitters and two teams still need hitters, one needs three, the other needs one. Let's say I've chosen my 15th hitter so I'm done. Duke Snider, Roger Maris, Charlie Gehringer, and Gabby Hartnett are all available. And I nominate Oris Hockett. Neither of the two want this guy. So I nominate Tom Paciorek. No takers. So I nominate Babe Dahlgren. Nobody. So I nominate Ted Sizemore...
see the problem? It could take an eternity to sort this out.

So the problem will not be the ratio of hitters to pitchers, the problem will be nominating players somebody wants. I think we have to devise a plan where once you've filled your last hitter or pitcher your nomination for that position needs to be passed on to someone who still needs a player.

Agreed Gorshar - see my post - once your P or H are full, the nominating should slide to the next team down on the division listings - working east to west.

Also - we said earlier that a nomination has to come with an opening bid - these two rules go together well and solves the problem as far as I can see.

Forgot that point...
Okay so the issue than is once you've filled your hitters or pitchers the next nomination goes to another team that hasn't filled yet. So we have to decide which one?

But if you've filled your hitters but not your pitchers you shouldn't switch to a pitcher as that will skew the ratio, but simply pass on your nomination.
