So our server move didn't go exactly as our guys planned it - understatement of the century.
Please accept our deepest apologies for the extended site downtime on Friday. It was an intensive job to begin with, and our admin guys encountered problem after problem that lasted through the afternoon. Some of you know our DBA, Andrey -- some equipment fell and crushed his finger and he was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night, poor guy.
None of this excuses our downtime, though; I just wanted to let you know everything that's going on. All site functionality has been restored, but we're currently having some difficulties with our stats server. At this point, I'm being forced to postpone Thursday night's games until Friday night, when I'll run drafts and games for both nights together. [b:7fcf906c11]This means 6 regular season games, or 2 days of the postseason, will be run on Friday night.[/b:7fcf906c11] We know this is an inconvenience for you, but I'm afraid this is the best we can do under these circumstances.
- Team settings set by Friday at 10pm ET will be in effect for all of Friday night's games.
- Friday's 5pm waivers deadline will be postponed until Saturday at the same time.
[b:7fcf906c11]EDIT, SATURDAY 2:45AM ET[/b:7fcf906c11]
I'm so sorry but we've been having further problems with the games. All I'm prepared to say now is [b:7fcf906c11]there will be further delays with tonight's games[/b:7fcf906c11]. Yes, I'm aware we're already 1 night behind. But please do not expect game results before the morning. I'm at my wit's end right now and will be up all night for the second night in a row.
[b:7fcf906c11]EDIT, SATURDAY 12:45PM ET[/b:7fcf906c11]
All I can say is that I've been working on it all morning, I'm just about to have a nervous breakdown. I'm sorry. Stay tuned.
[b:7fcf906c11]EDIT, SATURDAY 3:15PM ET[/b:7fcf906c11]
Listen everybody, I don't know what to say. We don't have a solution. Some of us have been up for 50 straight hours and are stumped by an apparent network issue at the new datacenter. At this point the game is in a broken state; I'm not sure I'll be able to finish Thursday night's games even by the end of today (Saturday).
Some of you may have noticed results coming in slowly. That's because we have the ability to run the games... slowly. That's what I've been doing for the last 2 days. The obvious problem is that the longer we take to find the solution, the further behind we fall. And you don't know what to do with your teams.
All I can say is that I'm going to continue running Thursday night's games throughout the day; I don't know when they'll be completed. Postseason for both 2005 and ATG II have been completed, however, for [b:7fcf906c11]Thursday and Friday night, and are thus caught up.[/b:7fcf906c11] Because they are easier to run, I intend to keep them on schedule.
So I guess I'm saying don't expect us to be able to announce a clear schedule for games just yet. Just do your best - consider the game broken if you want - and try to enjoy the rest of your weekend. Once we're past this we'll try to make it up to you somehow.
[b:7fcf906c11]UPDATE, SATURDAY, 9PM ET[/b:7fcf906c11]
[b:7fcf906c11]GOOD NEWS[/b:7fcf906c11], all things considered. The network guys found the fix and we're well on our way towards completing Thursday night's games. I'll post a more official note soon, but be prepared for 6 more regular season games to be played tonight (hopefully for real this time). I know some of you would prefer everything to be pushed back 1 day, but this is the only way I can restore sanity to this mess.
Sincerely,
Bernie
