Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

I can't figure out how to make this team any good. My hitters won't perform like their revealed cards should. And my pitching is dropping like a rock. Plus the FA wire has been demolished. My best player is a .75 guy...Treadway...and he gets hurt. Having a 4 at 2B also gives me major feelings of nausea. And why won't Hernandez hit at all? Even his worst card is pretty good.

Mod,

I hear you.

Check your splits against the suspected year as well as your divisional opponents.

You'll likely find your team facing reverse type pitching, i.e., Hernandez's card is probably hard L tilted.

Otherwise, the free agent listing still has a few good players with more than three workable years.

You just need that one card to make it click for your team.

Just did a pretty big overhaul of my team. I usually like to do small changes, but I had so much extra cash I had to do something. Bud Black was getting drilled by all righties at nearly a .350 clip so I figured he was not a good #3 starter...especially if I miraculously make the play-offs.

And who is the guy leading my division? Is he some kind of cyborg...I am 1-8 against him. Even if I do make the play-offs it's pretty obvious I'll get an early exit.

I have now pegged 5 guys on my team in either their 4th or 5th best year ( thru injury), and can't find any suitable replacements. Hope Blyleven can get me 32 wins.

The one good thing is that my 2 big cast-offs ( Mattingly and Guidry ) are nearly as bad for their new teams as they were for me.

Why HAL?

Postby Semper Gumby » Tue Feb 28, 2006 11:40 am

Pitches Ed Nunez (R2) for [b:48deb635ac]9 inning [/b:48deb635ac](2nd game: 4 and 3rd game: 5) only to see another the late inning lost by allowing 5 runs to score? :(

Of course, my other relief pitchers were well rested. :x

just got swept by one of the least successful teams last night. starting to think HAL has it in for me. Can't figure out anything to do differently as my team slowly starts to sink to the bottom of my division.

My team is correctly named - the LEMONs

I went from 10 under to 10 over and going back to 10 under.

I lead the league in blown saves and getting tossed.

The killer is my hit and run is set for normal but all my players are set for DON'T HIT AND RUN

Otherwise, I am enjoying the season as I've also led the league in top choices that have hit the free agent wire.

One notable player

[b:a23b9ba747]Schmidt [/b:a23b9ba747] - 28 HRs and 80 RBIs before the all-star break but under 10 2Bs
