That was a reasonable question PBTR and appreciate you asking it and getting an answer too.
As for the complainers...
OK--so apparently don't ever do DB maintenance or server upgrades. Just let it run til it dies.

While we're at it, don't ever invest in the stock market because you might lose money.

Thanks for the updates Bernie. This is a recreational pursuit for many...

I'm in the same boat as some other folks, now if someone gets hurt in the games that were supposed to run early this morning, I can't make proper substitutions for the final three games of my season, clinging to a two game lead.

You guys need to hire better people.

Are you referring to me? Well...if you ever invest in the stock market and lose money....don't complain. It's that simple. 8)

Last I looked, we had the freedom to complain. What was I thinking?

Hope Andrey's finger is all right, the rest will take care of itself.

........the best laid plans sometimes just go astray, hopefully you can help out the few people, that the downtime effected, to their satisfaction. :)

But I have 7 injury prone teams and 12 teams which require spot starters and no life!

Just kidding.

How many times have you checked for results today. I figure I tried at least 6-7 times. I bet I am NOT in the top 10% of compulsive owners.

Good intentions, and Bernie seems really to be a good guy, but yeah, their people just can't seem to get the job done without a bunch of problems.

I can't even begin to describe the frustration of 38 active teams that usually use per game starters and daily changes in most other settings.

We are all in the same boat....so all of you that complain of not being able to make last minute changes, neither can your opponent. My biggest problem is having to read all the boxscores before work tomorrow! Oh wait....I dont work tomorrow :D ....so I got no problems with the inconvenience :P [/color:b204c1c646][/size:b204c1c646]

Run 1 Series Tonight; Push the next one back!

Postby ERICZAMPOL » Fri Feb 24, 2006 8:01 pm

Everyone agrees that updates need to be made. The question is how to handle a bad situation.

It makes little sense to run 6 games tonight when we could just push every series back one night. Is there some reason this is not being considered as an option? What are we missing? We have an extra day at the end of each season anyway so the one-day delay should not have a negative impact and would not screw those of us that can't make changes tonight.

Actually, we are not all in the same boat. Teams switching from playing in Shea or against a strong one-sided pitcher or teams with more injuries are SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DISADVANTAGED than the other teams.

PBTR is right, we're getting better servers, newer database technology, and for the first time ever we have someone working full-time on Strat-O-Matic (me). I'm just sorry you have to witness this round of the ugly growing pains. I'm going to do everything I can to make it up to you and then some.
