NEW SUMMER LEAGUE - AUCTION - CHAT ONLY

Postby gorshar » Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:09 am

I think you got it. Rules state we can bid or not and we can nominate anybody we choose - superstar or streetlight. Some of us are blowing cash early and others are playing the waiting game, that's all. It'll all work out in the end.

If one doesn't fill a starting position until last, they will get the 12th best player at that position. Now you are correct, they may pay less because everyone else has no money, but they'll have no stars.

I'm unable to bid on the high end at this point, but it's a strateegery, maybe not a good one, we'll see

You have a plan, and maybe it will work. We won't know until the leaves are turning.

Well put bkeat - I see it the same way. The strategy (or lack thereof) is part of the fun. All of us will have a chance to fill out our rosters at or close to the minimums. Keep in mind we adopted 10% as a minimum, so you can't get anyone over $5M for the minimum as you plan your roster and payroll.

yes, this is all so correct and that's why this is so much fun! None of us have done this before so we really have no idea what the best strategy will be. If or when we do it again the strategies might be totally different.

This afternoon around 2:30, we get a new pitcher.
Dinnertime gets us a hitter.
Midnite gets us Elam Vangilder

Pending fresh bids that reset the clock, of course.

I put Roger Maris up on the auction block. Sorry about the delay but flu has wiped me out. Should check in a bit today and hopefully back to work tomorrow. Back to bed.

Good luck with the crud MBBW.

This Thursday will be 4 weeks with it for me and my wife. I've been OK but lingering for a week. She's still fighting clogged nose and run down in general.

Her doc said what's been going around here is a 2-3 week event. I fit that, wife is prone to slow recovery.

After the first 3 or 4 days, we were well enough to be up and about and miserable, as long as we got 12 hours of sleep.

Geez guys... don't come near me then, please.
I hope you both feel better real soon!!!

My wife, son, and I have been steering clear of stuff recently, fortunately. Though my son (he's 2 1/2) has had a little cough for about a week and a couple kids at the children's center he attends have had strep recently, he's managed to avoid what goes around for the last month or so. He was sick just after Christmas for about a day with a stomach thing. Fortunately, I have not seen or heard of a long, lingering cold-like thing around here (NH).

btw, this auction draft is awesome. I am enjoying this immensely. I can even explain some of the goings on to my wife and she gets it. She's not much of a baseball fan, forget Strat, but she loves strategy games like I do, so I think her attentive listening to my talking about this has to do with the general auction/strategy stuff. Yeah!

Oh, and Mr. BBW - can you check in to the SBDL Discussion thread? Thanks.

We caught it from the grandkids, they recovered faster.

Haven't seen them for 3 weeks for fear of giving it back.

Talk to 2 1/2 on the phone, and is her habit of speaking in the third person like an overpaid athlete :P : "Gracie not happy, PaBob(what they call me) come over, Grace happy then."
