Old situation thread

Glad its back at all!

After doing more than my share of server upgrades (thankfully all mine have gone smoothly), and "cleaning up" several that didn't go so well, I'm just thrilled to see the game back at all. I start sweating whenever I see "server upgrade" listed anywhere. We are all lucky they were only a few hours late.

I once saw a server move go bad for a few days because no one could figure out that the server was physically moved next to a wall with an elevator on the other side. The server crashed whenever the elevator went to that floor.

Good job guys, I know how hard it can be.

Some of the comments are as interesting as the game...Boo Hoo...Geez.
I get a visual of the guy who owns the comic book store on the Simpsons when I read the complaints...But cartoons lampoon ...a few here are just sad...man oh man....

I think it's a tribute to the quality of the game that we all feel a twinge of loss when we don't get our morning fix of stats and game results...and it makes me smile that I can still get worked up over a game after playing it for 30 years...

I'm with the post that exclaimed, "Let's play 6!"....For you that feel you've had control taken out of your hands...pretend the final innings are being played in a rain shower...the pitcher can't get a good grip on the ball, the left fielder slips as the batted ball drops for a single that otherwise would have been caught, etc...as in real baseball, the unexpected needs to be expected...and circumstances beyond our control sometimes can alter the expected, planned outcome...and that's part of what makes it great...excuse the Dale Carnegie....but holy cow ......

question by a rookie

Postby pastorcz33 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 11:58 pm

Hey guys I got a strat question. From your experience does it normally pay to be aggressive stealing bases when your opponent has one out of three pitchers in a series that has a poor hold rating? Or...does it end up biting you in the butt in the other two games?

When I said we were all in the same boat but some of us were worse off than others, I meant we are all playing the same game- hopefully for the love of the game. We truly are in the same boat. It is a random thing, not meant to hurt one person over another. Maybe those cry babies will win all six. Some guys are whining [i:72c3abdebb]before [/i:72c3abdebb]the games are even played! The very fact that maintenance is being done shows that there is an honest attempt to improve the game.

Some people expect an awful lot for their 20 bucks.

I suppose these people think that there opponent's lineups are perfect and only the maintenance affected them.
I wonder if they think that TSN and Bernie were "out to get them" if they win 5/6 or 6/6.

And, in the end, after tonight's games are over there will be exactly 50% winners and 50% losers.

You know I think you guys run a pretty smooth operation there and Ive enjoyed playing your games over the last couple years now even thou I think its probably a bit over priced. But you have been pretty professionable and I understand that things can happen however this whole upgrade fiasco has been a major inconvience for me and I am sure most other coaches throughout the leagues and I thought you should know it. Thank you and I hope my teams are run soon and that we dont have any further problems like this again anytime soon?

Hang in there Bernieh, s**t happens. I'll settle for a few more 2006 teases as compensation.
