That's the key mtarbell--it's a risk vs reward question.
Absolutely are IT upgrades done with failsafe options and cm'd carefully in the dev enviro, then moved to test, maybe then to op test side by side--but that's not a trivial investment to have a viable test architecture.

It's a cost you won't take on if the worst consequnce of failure is losing one of your lowest grossing (or thinnest margin) games/businesses, etc.

$25 a pop ain't exactly the same as a $25K Put timed to make you some dough. It simply isn't. Not minimizing the screw-up, but the big picture of it all doesn't seem to compare.

Alert: I apologize to the entire TSN, Strat community.

I have a team over .500 more than 24 hours into a season. The resulting logic snafu is more than any known computer can handle...causing server meltdown...Sorry guys and Jessica Alba....I'll try to make it up to you...Jessica first.

No argument here....you are absolutely right, in the grand scheme of TSN...we are a minor "blip" on the "bottom line" radar screen

Hey, the Gang's all here--- even Jamesgang77, penngray, BigMahon and others too awesome to enumerate here, Love JG's idea of a 2010 live draft; I saw this guy at Pawtucket last June....

I recommend that SOMO let Bernie get some sleep, or double the Donut allotment. The time has surely come for a walk in in the woods. This community really ought not to have to depend on one Great Guy for support here. But we will survive I am sure. I'm just getting tired of looking at my club being swept by an even worse club (if that can be credited) for the 3rd night in a row. Post some bad mpgs or something...

For what it is worth (I know, this and $2.50 will get you a ride on the subway...), I think that it is interesting to see the number of people posting that are in the single digits for posts. Maybe recent events will add new blood to the boards.

Several years ago when our offices were implementing computers in the early 1980s, I happened to walk by the conference room where the relatively new computer staff was having a day long planning meeting. The conference room blackboards were filled with hand written sentences and arrows and dates. I asked what they were doing since they seemed to be taking a break. I was told that it was a flow chart to implement the new computer program. I looked at for a moment and then I said,"I've a great idea for you. Instead of writing this on a blackboard since the janitor must might erase it, why don't you put it on a spreadsheet on the computer then you all can work on it. Then everyone will be able to see it and comment."

I got some very angry stares. But only four years later it was up and running. I don't expect much from computer staff and therefore am always pleased when something works.
