Re: Running Parallel

Postby rvalente01 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:47 am
I guess I do not understand this idea about eunning parallel. I understand the concept of a backup system but in this situation, where each "roll of the dice" is supposed to have a random result, I do not see how you can run the games on both servers and get the same results on each server.

To run in parallel means the old system is still live and the new system runs in the background off line. The desired result is the games run and leagues are updated without a hitch. We would never see the new system running until it went live with the data from the old system transferred on to it.

You would most likly not get the same 5-4 loss in the bottom of the ninth when your $8M closer gives up a HR to a .125 hitting back up second baseman with 1 lifetime HR.

No Doubt

Postby EggMan21 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:48 am

I have no doubt that everyone at TSN-SOM are doing everything they can for us and I support them. I believe when everything does shake out, the game we all love so much will be better than ever.

Absolutely correct, it's only a game, so in terms of what's really important in life, it's not that big of a deal... but it's a game that we're paying to play with established "rules / FAQ" that aren't being followed. Why are people so ready to accept crap quality these days?

Hmmm... maybe for ATG III they're planning to include a "Run the entire 162-game season in one night" option, and this is just a sneaky way to beta test the program.

Actually, I only wanted to post because I started feeling left out. And because hitting the refresh button is driving me crazy already.

Blame My Wife - She Pulled the Power Cord on TSN's Server

Postby Semper Gumby » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:53 am

Hmmm .... it is just a game.

I haven't seen this much excitement over a game since my wife's friends got all [b:ae4a87249d]ASSED UP [/b:ae4a87249d]over Jerry Rice moving into the medal round of [i:ae4a87249d]Dancing with a Fool[/i:ae4a87249d].

If anything, I think my wife messed this game up as she now can see the rest of my head during the evening hours.[/size:ae4a87249d]

Ooops, I hear the little lady now - time to go shopping as SAMS :D

Where's Trump?

Postby jsam9801 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:54 am

Maybe we could ask the Donald to speak with the Einsteins who decided not to have a contingency plan? The Donald's infinitite wisdom at play here could utter "You're Fired...of course, after you fix the game"!

Well, the good news is that I can finally shave and shower and stop looking like Howard Hughes....

I think that I get better service at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

NOT a Game

Postby Curtwa » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:55 am

This is real life. Please dont double up on games. Missing two or more days wont kill anybody, unless they are psychopaths to begin with

Just do the best you can with what ya' got. The world will not end if things don't go as planned. Life always throws it's own "curveballs".
