That's why I think that despite this snafu, we ought to be happy that Bernie is finally full time, and they're buying newer better servers to help the game run more smoothly for months and maybe years to come.

They don't make much money off us that's been documented.

Inelastic demand function, I like that.

if they screwed up my steak twice the same visit...no!

if they screwed it up...fixed it...compensated me.
then next time they did the exact same thing? Yes I'd go back because I'd have gotten good food (a little later than it should) and excellent customer service/appreciation...which is very important!!!

Yes HechoJazz--I think if you believe they make a lot of money with a large margin, that's off the mark. Factor in operating expenses, licensing costs, and the comparatively low sales volume, etc and it ain't a huge moneymaker. This isn't fantasy sports--that has a larger margin and larger volume.

If folks feel that strongly, Walk with the wallet...walk with the wallet...

I go see live amateur and college hockey all the time--very enjoyable. Those guys bleed for their dollar.

I am starting to lose my patience! This is outrageous! I mean we have two days in a row without any scores. TSN needs to correct this problem and make sure it never happens again. And in the mean time they need to really work to make it up to those of us who play this game.

I was understanding on Thursday night and all through the evening into the wee hours of the morning today but now it has been 36 hours since we have had any box scores! TSN is really screwing up! I expect some sort of compensation...if the sim is not going to work I'll just buy the strato board game and start my own league!

Guys they've already said we'll get a new steak. Maybe not thirty new steaks like some people are demanding ( ) but steak nonetheless.

How do you figure they don't make much money off of us??? There is another site called WhatIf Sports.com that only charges $9.95 per team and it's ALL they do. I guarantee they are making money...so at $25 (or $20 for 5 packers) per team TSN is raking in the dough. I'd estimate revenues in the $5-6 million/yr. After the small costs incurred for this type of operation the probably clear somewhere from 20-50% as profit.

5-6 million, from US?!?!?!?

TSN pays SOM a licensing fee for use of the game engine. You forgot to subtract that.

Mood--that makes no sense. If they're the only place that sells steak, they don't have to give you a free one for you to come back.

And if you choose not to come back, then it's a simple business decision for them. They can't give 2 for 1 steaks for long dude--corporate profit margins are not what a lot of people think.

I have to admit I won't walk with my wallet here--this is till the best and as PBTR just said, they've made a decision to increase service as a result of testing the water for whether there's an expansion market to be tapped.

Although it sucks--this does not happen often enough for me to go buy the rights to APBA or play What-If Sports. Inferior products.

And there's a distinct difference between TSN SOMO and Hal's SOM. A lot of the anachronistic marketing is due to SOM, not TSN. For pete's sake, they still use floppies?!? and have a website that looks like something my 13 year old could have put together on a weekend middle school project.

They haven't updated the board game materials since Jimmy Carter was president. I mean c'mon!

They spend their time and effort on the accurate representation of the stats--that's why they've outlasted all the other sims in the last few decades. A fancy interface or box won't be bought if the underlying game sucks (ever play Micro League baseball?!?)

tersignf...

unfortunately for me i now live in Florida (well, we do have 75 degree weather right now :)) and can't see any college hockey. I just wish I had an ECHL team here in the central florida area to go see. I do occasionally go see the Florida Seals ( a team that is in the SPHL? which is pretty low...not a farm team league, more like semi-pro) which is still awesome to watch. Hockey is by far the hardest, most athletic sport to play. Breath-taking in person.

I think we should get TSN's CEO to go help berni SIM all these games by hand. I'll donate the dice ;)
