Just wanted to get this back at the top of the page, but while I am at it, quick weather update from Naples Florida.......quite cool today with a high in the low 70's and I did see a cloud earlier today.

I would ask the younger Howser if they have enough snow up in Toronto area, but he has threatened me, so I will not go there.

So is the DO stand for Daddy-O, Howser?

It's snowing in N.H. right now, but not as bad as the 18-inch storm last week. So... don't tease me with talk of Florida. Or you may have some houseguests, Daddy-O!!

to look at the bright side of all the snow, if they were to have a snow tossing competition I'd probably be in line for the Gold. I can throw it about 15 feet high now since that's the size of the snow bank at the end of my driveway.

donfesq 1 step ahead?

Postby dlarkins » Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:26 am

a little concerned that the highly rated donfesq has yet to buy a player but still has 80 mil to spend

as my approach has beenthe opposite with 13 signed players i am concerned.

my division mates have me hoping for a 70 win season

Could be the pick of the leftovers strateegery in a deep talent pool.

Could be he's in Kentucky with no power.

Could be he'll be bidding against me for the scraps to finalize the rosters in a few months.

Looking at the kind of money getting tossed around and knowing the sheer amount of talent that goes unclaimed in $80 mil leagues, well, I think it's obvious why some people are holding out. I kind of expected (hoped?) people would approach this as a $200 mil league and keep their bids to around 40% of the true value, but alas we're paying at or above in some cases... definitely a league where the early bird gets the worm and the late bird gets the full buffet.

But who am I to talk? I paid $12 mil for Kiner!!

Actually, we should probably check on whether DonFESQ has vital signs... His last post to ANY forum was a bid for Gehrig in the bid thread EIGHT days ago...

He may be idling intentionally as mentioned above, but just in case... Don, if you read this, just say "Hi" to let us know you are not AWOL...

I'm bidding on the players I want to, I'm just not paying over their card price when there are acceptable alternatives out there.

I for one, am very pleased with how this is going. The different tactics used by the 12 of us should, if nothing else, be educational. My original intent was to play it as DonFESQ appears to be playing it. I find myself with two players long before I expected to have any.

Even if I only win 60 games in this league, I will be willing to try again. This is fun. The fact that there is such a great bunch working at this is what makes it fun.

Stick to your tactics guys!

Jon.
