Old situation thread

Postby Jerlins » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:20 pm

I'm going out on a limb and predicting compensation WILL NOT be in the form of a game credit. More than likely a coupon and or discount worth $5. maybe $10. off on selected TSN merchandise. Been through enough of these company issues in my lifetime to know what to expect. That said, I wouldn't use the coupon/discount myself, nor would TSN expect a redemption rate of more than 10% at best. I'm guessing TSN is already having their statisticians working overtime as to how many people would actually leave the game vs. cost of a game credit vs the cost of a discount coupon. My guess is that the answer is the discount option would be the most desirable position for the company to take.

Personally, a credit would be nice, but basically, I just want the game up and if no compensation is offered, I'm fine with that as well.

This is my second year playing this game and I am hooked...
Baseball has always been my favorite game. I can relate with Bernie's plight, been in his shoes before. I thought he mentioned in one of his posts that this was a network issue with the new data center. If so, then the servers must be fine, just no connectivity or bad connectivity from the front end server to the database (just a guess). Wonder if anyone checked the cables?

I just wanted to get my name in this thread.

Reading through this thread is a lot more entertaining than box scores. If I had it in me, I would create a synopsis of this thread that mimicked a game recap. Doubtless, it would contain the sentence, "When asked about the downtime, Penngray responded, 'This is unconscionable!'"

Oh well, Kansas/Texas awaits...

Remember that there are some leagues that have had games run. I had two leagues have their thursday games run. So, there must be connectivity.

Just a comment on compensation. I just do not think that TSN is going to give away credits to everyone who is currently playing. There are thousands of us at $20/game min credit well it is real money.

The point is we are hooked to this game and they know it and I doubt Bernie will have the determining vote here, so I think we shouldn't get our hopes up. Jerlins suggestion about gift certifciates is right on.

yes i must say we are addicts. i just want it up and running. it doesn't bother me that the servers are down. what bothers me is that there is no idea when it will be back. frustrating is the promises that it would be up "by morning", "6 games in one night". Well, none of that happened. That is the frustrating part.

At least I have the CD-ROM SOM to get by for now......<sigh>

When the old boards experienced sever issues, there was a big outcry by the community. TSN then posted a coupon code that was good for $10 off an ATG team. In the post, it said there was to be a limit of 2 teams bought with that code but there was nothing in the programming that prevented people from using the code more than twice.
If they go that route again, I bet they will have a better way of tracking how many times a person uses that code.

Credit vs TSN

Postby Jservi » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:54 pm

I for one am one that is hooked on Strat. I have 5 teams going right now. However, it is disappointing that the game has been down. Is it life threatening? No? Is it right though? No. TSN is a business who serves customers. Is this something out of there hands? Maybe, but it is up to TSN to make it right. I was in Starbucks the other day and their computers were down. Another non-life threatening situation. You know what they did? They gave out free drinks. You know why? To keep their customers happy. You see TSN...take care of your customers. We all pay good money for a computer driven game. You can do the right thing and issue credits for teams being affected.

[b:4a9c6da902]UPDATE[/b:4a9c6da902]

[b:4a9c6da902]GOOD NEWS[/b:4a9c6da902], all things considered. The network guys found the fix and we're well on our way towards completing Thursday night's games. I'll post a more official note soon, but be prepared for 6 more regular season games to be played tonight (hopefully for real this time). I know some of you would prefer everything to be pushed back 1 day, but this is the only way I can restore sanity to this mess.

Also would everyone be so kind as to refrain from the "Here we go again"s? Honestly, I'm doing the best I can.
