I just wanted to quickly post the official plan for catching up on the games we're behind by. I'll write more about the situation later.
We have fixed our network problems and can run games at the normal pace again - even quicker actually, because of the new hardware. Here's what's going to happen.
- All of Thursday's games will be completed before midnight (ET) tonight.
- All [b:68f12be427]postseason[/b:68f12be427] games for Thursday AND Friday will be completed before midnight (ET) tonight. This will catch these leagues up.
- Tonight (Saturday night/Sunday morning), [b:68f12be427]6 regular season games[/b:68f12be427] will be played, and the usual [b:68f12be427]1 postseason day of games[/b:68f12be427]. Tonight's 10pm ET roster and settings deadline will be in effect for these games.
- Drafts scheduled for Thursday, Friday or Saturday night will be run tonight shortly after midnight ET.
[b:68f12be427]EDIT, SUNDAY 5AM ET[/b:68f12be427]
It looks like we were successful in our plan to catch up all leagues and we'll be resuming our normal game schedule effective immediately. At least we're already able to see some benefit from the datacenter move/upgrade - we played 2 nights' worth of games in the time it used to take to play 1.
Please be advised that this was no simple maintenance; it was a large-scale datacenter move [i:68f12be427]and[/i:68f12be427] equipment upgrade. I can explain in more detail later, but the most relevant points are that not only will nightly processing be expedited in the immediate term, but the architecture of our new servers will make it easier for us to develop further optimizations and core game enhancements in the long run, and hopefully our site performance will be more reliable on a day-to-day basis.
Thanks again for your continued patience over the last 2 days. And also thanks to Andrey and his crew for undergoing sleeplessness and literal pain to get us going again. I'd like to get some sleep myself now, but this is not the last you'll be hearing from me about the weekend.
Thank you,
Bernie
