Sorry guys, I have to pass on the new league.

My limit for active teams is usually 2, I now have 3, and this draft as well. The more teams I have, the less I tend to enjoy it.

As fun as this sounds - much of the allure to me was to engage in a season with our same group here, as it's been fun getting to know everyone via their spending habits. :)

With at least three out, this becomes a bit less alluring. I too am TRYING (though unsuccessfully with 8 active teams) to manage my SOM budget and if we don't have a full group would suggest maybe we wait? Or if some of you want to go for it you can. Maybe we can "schedule" a start when it fits for others' budgets and try to get the whole group?

1972 Metropolitan Stadium Twin vs. White Sox.

Memories:
How completely different the game looked than on TV - blew me away.

How every BP fly ball looked like it was going out at first. "Get up, get up!, no wait it's just behind 3B".

This long haired guy in left field who flung himself at every BP home run and probably got 8 or 9 balls while my friends and I scrambled around and got none.

Watching scores on the Twins-O-Gram scoreboard - VERY high tech.

Harmon Killebrew popping out a mile high to 2B in the bottom of the 9th, despite representing the winning run.

If my memory serves me right my first game was Sept 1987 at Anaheim Stadium.
White Sox vs. Angels
Got to see Fisk Homer. I cheered fans weren't so pleased with me but it was a crazy Thunder and lightning storm. First I couldn't believe they didn't cancel the game and everytime a huge bolt of lightning shot out of the sky the fans cheered like crazy. I had pretty good seats down towards the lower bowl but quickly moved up under the awning. Screw that ****!!!
2 days later I was able to see Rick Reuschel pitch a two hitter as the Giants downed the Astros 2-0 at Candlestick. I prayed to the God's to let it be Nolan Ryan's turn in the rotation instead I got Danny Darwin!!!

Spring Training Game back in 57 or 58 in St Petersburg, Florida. Yankees were playing Red Sox and I got Mickey's autograph, NO not the mouse, the real Mickey. I tried like hell to get Ted Williams to sign my program, but he was in a bad mood that day. I don't remember who won the game and it really didn't matter to me, but I do remember seeing Yogi hit two home runs that day, and absolutely having so much fun with the fans. Yogi became my all time favorite catcher from that day forward.

By the way, my Mother ended up throwing Micks autograph, along with others like Gordie Howe's and Jimmy Brown's in the garbage one day when she was cleaning my room!

Much later on in life, I did attend the FIRST EVER Toronto Blue Jays game on April 7th, 1977 at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. Took my Father in law to the game, sorry younger Howser. Anyway, snow on the field, freezin temperatures, and a White Sox player came out with snow shoes on before the game. Ralph Garr was the first batter and Bill Singer was the B.J.'s starting pitcher. First pitch was a strike. Jays won the game and the fans began to shout, WE'RE NUMBER ONE! Doug Ault hit a couple of home runs for the Jays, and we all left feeling this could be the start of a historic career for Mr. Ault. I think, he may have ended up hitting two more for the rest of his career.

My earliest live ballgame memory:
I was 10 in the summer of 1981. My dad got tickets for him, my mom and me to see the Red Sox-Royals on a Friday night at Fenway Park.
It was rained out. We didn't even leave the house.
On the following Sunday late morning, we drove in to Boston and walked up to the box office so that we could exchange our tickets for a game later in the season. Someone before us had just turned in THEIR tickets for that day's game. Or should I say "games" as the rainout was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on that Sunday.
My dad turned and asked us what we thought about spontaneously seeing a doubleheader. We exchanged our tickets for those tix three rows behind home plate!!!
I've never had better seats since, and I've been to MANY games.
Everything seemed so much more vibrant and real. The grass was so green. And the Green Monster was so big and so close I thought I could spit and hit it. And the players seemed twice the size as on TV.
The Sox were in a little lull post-free agency of Lynn and Fisk. And the Royals were defending AL champs.
I remember seeing Gura and Leonard start for the Royals. I remember seeing Eckersley and Burgmeier pitch for my team. I saw some of the greats of the time play that day, like Dwight Evans, Yaz, Rice, Brett, Wilson, White... Even Quisenberry closed for a save (two?) that day. Watching the submariner pitch from that vantage point was amazing.
I've been to Fenway probably close to 20 times since then, including Sox-Yankees, and nothing compares to that day, that doubleheader.

Wow. Thanks for bringing up this thread. I've been without my folks for awhile (my dad since '83, mom since '98) and this was nice to recall. :D
