I'm not sure if the computer issues had anything to do with my PM's not getting to either of you but basically my message was as follows:

I'm fine with no FA's but allow trading. I had one concern and that was that I didn't see any motivation for strong teams, given a $100m cap, with quality depth at a specific position to trade to franchises with no starter at that position.

I would like to suggest combine my #2 which called for a committee using Novie's research to move a few players around. I can't see it being unfair as long as it's done prior to the selection of the Franchises.

If either of you disagree then we will simply go with the trading and no FA's.

I GUESS THERE'S NO RUSH.

We added a 10th in RangerJoe and Risden had stated once our rules were final he'd join but I haven't seen him sign as of yet so I'm not positive if he's an absolute.

FRANCHISE ANALYSIS

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 5:40 pm

NOVIE & CATom -

Let's go with no FA's but allow trading once we've determined who and if any players get reassigned.

NOVIE - Can you speed things up by indicating the teams you found holes and depth.

Results of Franchise Analysis

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 9:20 pm

1) Balt & SD - No problems with no Xtra depth or holes.

2) Minn & Cle - Addition of McDowell & Horton & Sims leaves this COMBO with no holes. Problem is too solid Pitching but fine as is. Maybe move Perronowski to LA Dodgers. SP here is McDowell, Perry, Bosewell & Kaat. Also, Chance & Tom Hall xtra SP though Hall can go into BP with Miller.

3) Pitts & Mont - Great OF & DH but xtra bat. Weakness is 2B & SS possibly below ave. SP probably low in talent. Mont. adds M. Jones, R. Staub, R. Fairley, & B. Bailey.

4) NYM & PhiN - Needs 2B. Solid team with D. Allen joining Jones, Agee. Add Callison for Rf.

5) SF - ChiA - Looks Fine. Maybe some xtra OF.

6) Det & Cal - With rock solid SP & BP the 3B weakness could be helped but pretty good COMBO.

7) Atl & Sea - Needs SS & RP -

8) Cinn & KC - Needs Inf talent. What about Morgan?

9) Stl & Cubs - 2 2bs in Javier & Beckert, Torre & Banks, Williams & Brock in LF. Very solid SP.

10) NYY & Hst - Clark & Morgan & Menke ( 3B on team), Very solid SP.

11) Bost & Wash - Xtra SS in Brinkman. Epstein & Scott at 1B. Howard & Yaz in LF. Needs Catcher

12) Oak & Dodg - Inf solid with cf & RF solid. Need Catcher, LF. Solid Pitching.

you know, looking at this i think we are ok. We can over analyze and move players around - but - if we do that why don't we just do a 25 round player draft? need 2B,need ss,maybe an xtra of'er, mite need relief help, need catcher(although i have used casanova many times). you guys figure it out and i'll go with what ever you come up with - OR, lets just go with what we got? Looks like every duo has strengths, and some weaknesses - which trading could help. Anyway, i'm in for whatever you decide.......Tom.

My position is that I think at most 2-3 moves could be made to bring up a couple of the lower seeded teams. If Novie thinks this is warranted then let's do it. However, if has no preference let's go with CATom and just finalize it.
