WINTER 1969 - WEST LOADING - Gordie Howe is last team!

Our historical single season sets

It is fun - and I agree on not having as much depth as ATG - makes it more fun and more strategic, vs. matching-up degrees of greatness.

C'mon Gordie Howe - put the biscuit in the basket! Let's get this thing moving!

Agree about the depth thing

The leagues where everybody has an all-star at every position can be kind of wacky. I like getting into a place where everybody has to use "non-front liners." It tends to bring the pitching back into the reality range.

I did a 2 team specific theme the one year and that was fun. Although the Padres did nothing to help my cause! The Cardinals were my other team and they were a great squad in '69.

But did Nate Colbert reach the coveted 200 strikeout total? Or did he not make the team?

Nate was about the only thing the Pads had. Wound up platooning him with McCarver/Torre. And yes, he had his share of strikeouts.

question

Postby Rjnewman » Tue Feb 10, 2009 1:36 pm

Is there a spot I can go and look at manager instructions?Sure would like to know about relief pitchers limitations. I also assume there can be only one park per team...

RJ- Glad you guys have surfaced! Take a look at the other message boards - there are a lot of general instructions and startegy guidelines that other owners have put out there. I have to run to a meeting now but will look for a link shortly unless someone else posts one first.

Please ask Gordie to keep an eye on the draft so we can keep it moving in subsequent rounds!

thanks,
Dan

RJ- link or copy this into your browser. Some good stuff here.

Most important - have fun! My first team I just picked my favorite players and had a blast - and finished .500, which was a bonus.

Hopefully Gordie will pick soon. We gotta get this thing moving.
