SITUATION UPDATE: CAUGHT UP

The Bloody Aftermath

Postby Cruiser » Sun Feb 26, 2006 8:22 am

My teams went a combined 4-23 during the Day That Time Forgot.

I knew I should have ranted and vented instead of waiting patiently! ;)

All I can say is, I'm glad that's over (for many reasons), and I'm sure you guys worked as hard as you could (though I must say, Andrey, the story would have sounded much better if they had to amputate your finger, instead-seriously, I hope you get better soon).

Go take a nap guys; there's time to sift through the fallout later. Thank you.

Bernie and Andrey--Thanks. it's obvious you guys had limited resources and control over how this went. Tough place to be in--thanks for working the tough middle ground between us and management.

Compensation aside for legitimate cases, when folks talk about part time job and have a kid and saying the $25 is a big deal, yadda yadda--I'm at a complete loss for how an individual's screwed up priorities become TSN's responsibility.

these same folks think it's the responsibility of responsible people to finance their irresponsible decisions.

Hey my kid didn't get to eat dinner yesterday because I was so distraught--you owe me a dinner. And I couldn't afford breakfast because of my Hummer payment. Somebody must pay for my misfortune!

Thanks to the guys from TSN for their efforts in getting the game back and running after what was a very challenging site upgrade. I would particularly like to express my appreciation to Bernie for the unprecedented level of communication in keeping the community informed as to where things stood as the situation evolved. You have my continued support as TSN has become the best place to enjoy the Strat-o-matic experience.

I've found it rather embarrassing having to sit here and read all these messages of outrage and/or demanding free credits these last couple of days. Some folks really have their priorites screwed up. If you're gonna leave, don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you have been affected by this move in a particularly egregious way, send Bernie a PM or an e-mail. I have always found him responsive to specific issues of this nature. Flaming TSN to the entire community and demanding free credits is ignorant and counterproductive to the long term goals of this community.

Nice recovery, Bernie, Andrey and Co.

:)

In a world where people all too often demand perfection from their computer systems, you added the human element and exhibited great customer service in working the extraorindary over-time to bring the game back. 8) Other companies, other worker bees, might have said, "it can wait until next week," but you guys spent your weekend correcting the error.

Thank you.

Nice work fellas! Thanks for sticking to it rather than just calling it quits for the night.

Now if only I had realized that injuries were going to take out my middle infield and that the only back-up I had for 2b was a 5e41!!! Can you say [b:9d9b27cba6]OOPS![/b:9d9b27cba6]

But seriously guys, thank you. Andrey, you could have at least sweetened the story by telling us about a hottie nurse you picked up.

Bernie and TSN support staff thanks for the 100 hours of work over the weekend to make sure things were finally solved. It does suck to be in a helpless position you were in, hopefully you can rest now....take the whole week off if you can.

For those who say its just a fantasy game, sure it is but its the business Bernie and TSN are in.

I manage IT projects for a Cold Storage (They store meat products) as a main contract. Im sure some of you would say its just Meat, its not a bank account so stop fussing if something goes down and not that important if something goes wrong. That operation is 24/7 business too and we have 100% foolproof recovery procedures after I became involved because they did go down once for 18 hours and it hurt their reputation back 10 years ago. It only takes one problem to have many customers lose faith (sadly this is the way the market place works).

Any business you run or work for is very important and JUST as important as a bank or whatever. I did expect 100+ hours from the TSN support staff because that is their duty and it shows their commitment to their jobs and their company.

Thank you Bernie and staff for doing what almost every IT person has to go through once or twice. You are not alone. I did a 45 hour straight through startup once, not fun......Jolt cola was the key ;) But your body hurts now and it will take a couple days to recover. TAKE THAT TIME!!!
