WINTER 1969 - WEST LOADING - Gordie Howe is last team!

Our historical single season sets

Just lay off Cleon Jones - he's surly

I have the summary film for the '69 series, but wish I had the whole thing. The '70 Topps world series cards were my favs growing up -

Buford Belts Leadoff Homer!

Koosman Shuts the Door!

Martin's Bunt Ends Deadlock!

Mets Whoop It Up!

Great stuff - very dramatic - they really screwed up when they stopped doing WS and playoff cards.

Don't forget "Ryan Saves the Day"!
1969, I was 9 and living in Brooklyn...
that's the year I got hooked on MLB.

That's a valuable card now - anything with Ryan in the rookie year! Though I think his '69 card is his rookie - not sure.

There's one about Agee's catch too I think.

Nolan Ryan rookie card was 1968.

Are most of the picks done during work hours or the evening?

It really varies by group, GH - sometimes we have people on swing shifts or overseas drafting even. Not sure where everyone is for this league physically. So everyone just tries to check in frequently and have their picks ready. And the proxy function keeps it going too - you can basically set-up up picks ahead of time for various scenarios. But someone said last weekend that the proxies weren't working for some reason. And after round one the clock is at 4 hours, so there is an incentive to check in and pick or you can get passed over (you still get to pick whenever you check in - you don't lose the pick, just lose a couple potential players maybe).

Anyone - are proxies working now?

Once everyone sees us moving they will start to check in more - it kind of bogged down for awhile.

And you are right on the Ryan rookie - he has a '68 card that he shares with Minnesota's own Jerry Koosman!

I have a few set up for Round One: Pick Ten - I'll advise if mine work(ed).

Everybody should try to commit to checking the draft site at least 3 times in every 24-hour period until the draft is done. I know that it's difficult to make that commitment during work schedules, but give it a try if you can.
