I recently went thru a prolonged streak where most of my teams sucked. I think it lasted from November thru the end of January. My winning pct. dropped about .004 which is huge given all the games I've played. Not sure why it happened but it was really frustrating. Just felt snakebit. Reading my boxscores began to feel like mental torture.
Finally, a few weeks ago things started to turn around. Before the great system crash I had been averaging about +20 a night (35 teams) for the month of February. I even had a night last week where I went 72-33. So now I've gone up .003 in the past three weeks, back to .539. I guess this could all be random variability. It probably is. I have made a few adjustments, largely in park usage but also in some of the manager settings and I suspect that this contributes something to my recent improvement.
Anyway, I utilized the down time the past few days to further analyze my teams, and also those of Frank Bailey. Of all the highly ranked managers on the ATG II TSN list, Mike seems to have the least formulaic approach to team composition. That he has experienced the success that he has is thus all the more impressive; it seems pretty simple to stick to the more formulaic approaches many managers use and the limited pool of 'acceptable' players most draft. Anyway, I did learn two things that may be of inestimable value from Mike's teams. Can't wait to implement them.
Bottom line is I wasn't really impacted by all the server issues this weekend. TSN served lemons, I tried to make lemonade. That said, I am glad they are up and running. The new servers definitely are faster. Looks like last night's games ran between 30-60 minutes faster than normal. So while I wouldn't mind a few free credits, I just wanted to express my gratitude to Bernie and co. for their enormous hard work getting things to work again.
