[quote:9cf5f8679b="jimmullins70"]I'm still fine with it.
I'm not looking to be a pain in the a$$, but it still doesn't seem right that I have to drop 2 players before the new player draft. I don't see how it is any different than a team making an unbalanced trade the 1st day of the season then having to drop a couple players to get to the 40 man active roster size. That scenario would also tie up those dropped players for an entire season. The rules state that a team has one day to get back to the 40 man active roster limit after the 40 man limit has been exceeded not before. I will of course adhere to your ruling, but I just wanted to clearly state my side. How long do I have before I need to clear two roster spots?[/quote:9cf5f8679b]
I'll be honest, I'm much more concerned with Dan's side of this deal than I am your's Jim, in the sense that, and I want this to be perfectly clear, [b:9cf5f8679b]that he (thisisdan) is now agreeing to play the first season at a roster size of 38 not 40[/b:9cf5f8679b] like the rest of us.
You are right, the rules say you have one day, so I'll change my ruling like this,
You can keep both players for now, but once you make your 4th round pick in the New Player Draft, you have to make a pick and announce a drop to keep your roster at 40, ditto for the 5th round. I'm bypassing the 24hr rule, because you have PLENTY of advance notice to know you will be over the limit. The 24 hour rule was written to give the commisioner a chance to look over the rosters to make sure both sides of a trade are in roster compliance.
Is this fair?
If you feel you are not being fairly treated, we can take it to the league and put it to a vote. I'm not trying to be a dictator here, as I keep saying , I want this to be your league and only really want to be the arbitor of the rules. But this New Player draft has added wrinkles I hadn't fully considered when the USKL2/3 rules were adopted and I'm trying my best to keep to the spirit of those rules with this decision.
