Another "Used" free agent question - Eddie Murray

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Tue Feb 17, 2009 8:17 pm

Little confused on this one. Picked up Eddie Murray "used" off the waiver pool after 21 games and a sub .200 batting average playing in Royals stadium.

I am playing in Wrigley, so I picked him up and he gets injured for 3 games the 1st night.

There is no injury on his '89 card (worst) but he only played 160 games (594 ABs) that year.

All of his other cards (which are plenty good enough for me) have injuries including '84 were he played all 162 games (588 ABs).

I am confused, if he played all 162 in '84, why is there an injury on the card and not one on the '89 card?

Am I missing something or did I find a good card on the trash heap? Hoping I got lucky...

In 1989 Los Angeles finished with a record of 77-83. That is 160 games, so it does not seem to be a mistake. Murray must have played every inning for the Dodgers in 1989

Yep, that would make sense then. Here's hoping he improves on the .183 AVG in Wrigley !

Eddie is a keeper...in 1989 can be OK in the right league. Live through the slow start and reap the bennies later in the season
