URGENT! Gwynn or Barfield?

In Crosley - in division Forbes, Fenway 67 and Polo 11 real Schizo

have Mays and Yaz, Clark as DH
K Hernandez, Doran, Pesky and Steinfeldt
Dempsey
Koufax, McLain Lonborg and Cuellar
whole team looks like this -

Funny - the Polo team below is in my division as well - you could really mess with us!

Gwynn....and then dump Davivillo for a nickle guy (with 3 OFs who can't be injured more than 3 games, and Clark at DH, that money is wasted), and use the $1.3M in cash to upgrade 1b, 2b, or C.

Barfield gets a bad rap, but he's not that bad ...

Great defense, good speed, good power.

Problem is low OPB, high strikeouts.

If everyone around him is high OBP, he's not a bad value and can drive in some runs.

I would not be opposed to Jesse in a hitters park, just think Gwynn is a much better fit in Crosley...

I'm gonna try Barfield ONE OF THESE DAYS!! Should have grabbed him in the Longball league!

I tried him out a while back and he did fine, but the rest of the team couldn't get on base in front of him. About 1/2 way thru the season, he was actually outhitting Al Simmons if you can believe that.

...or you could use Clark in RF and look for a DH...

With Davillio I have a lefty hitting ph plus backup for all 3 OF, DH and he is my backup 1b - If I dropped him I would need a backup 1bman - Hatcher is my righty PH and pR - Gallego is the .5 wonderguy who can fill in all the skill infield - ok - but not great...
Catcher is all for defense - if they hit .205 I'll be happy - and keep the steals and pbs down...

I agree to a point - but Doran is already just for defense. With Dempsey, and now Gardner/Robinson at 3b, you essentially have 3 lineup holes. I don't think you can have Doran, Dempsey, and that 3b platoon in the lineup and score enough runs with that pitching staff against the bomber teams.
