[quote:e1b0bfbb01="2cityfan"]I got the Yankees in the restricted OPS league, so although I got good pitching from Gomez, I could not use: Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle...

in the post WW2/exp format you still get: Mantle, Rizzuto, Ford, Berra, Mattingly and access to a lot of other key impact players...[/quote:e1b0bfbb01]

Let's convince them, 2cityfan!

The post WW2/exp definitely seems to have the least number of hang-ups and potential problems. Come on, FAaron. The Cardinals have some pretty solid players in this generation. Stan the Man, The Wizard of Oz, Enos Slaughter, Bob Gibson, Harvey Haddix, and a number of others!

Did you switch your vote? You originally voted for something else.

tie breaker suggestions...

Postby 2cityfan » Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:07 am

JPGavin, any thoughts?

If no one wants to change their vote, you could pick 2 states for a lottery draw, each state represents a season format choice, then use the nightly lottery draw to break the tie... (highest draw wins)... just a thought to break the tie.. ':?'

This shouldn't be a tie. Dave switched his vote from minimum eligibility to post WWII after everyone but me had picked. Considering he had the Yanks, I'm sure he didn't want a 60 mil cap.

Just my opinion but you shouldn't be allowed to change your vote. Especially if there was no mention to anyone else in the league.

AeroDave, I'm the lawyer here. Shouldn't I be the one convincing you?

[quote:5ae84d5d03="Novie"]JP... if this is the theme, wouldn't it be easier and keep the balance between teams more even to just have the overall total? That way someone may not get stuck at 2 for 20M and another team come in at 17 or 18M. In a 60M league, that 2 or 3 M could be a huge thing. I haven't done all the research right now, but the Dodgers fall into the danger cateory as well. Have identified only 3 hitters so far... combined with just one pitcher scenario under or real close to a total of 20M. The rest are over 20M. And all 4 of these players are eligible for other teams.

Think if you simplify the rule, then running into an issue becomes less likely.[/quote:5ae84d5d03]

Yup. After I posted last night I broke down the teams. We'd have to adjust the salary requirements to be sure everyone could comply. My info is at home, I'll review it tonight and adjust the requirements to make sure every team can comply. Using the two protected player rule will help with this also.

2 cityfan,

I think we just go to the lottery. Dave assigned us each a state at some point. I'm Texas. Pick a state, high number wins and that's the rule.

I think we should have a majority rule. It doesn't sound right to have just half of the managers liking an idea and half not. That's how Bush got elected

Boo to the 1 hitter / 1 pitcher 60M rule!!!

Postby AeroDave10 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 12:35 pm

If we all have at least $19M tied up in two players, that leaves no more than $41M left to disperse among at least 22 players, an average of just $1.86M per person. There's a very good chance that most people will be well over the $19M, dropping the remaining average even lower. In a franchise league like this, I don't see the fun in picking a bunch of sub $2M players to represent your franchise. I don't mind a $60M league, but this is effectively a $40M league!!!
